Orofino Idaho, any reason we shouldn't move there?

Wife is a forensic Psychologist. Has always worked at state hospitals. What she loves doing. I'm a carpenter and can find something pretty much anywhere. We live near and work in Madison Wisconsin. We've wanted to live in a small town or rural location for years but her job has kept us in a commie shithole. She interviewed for a job at the Northern Idaho state Psychiatric Hospital today and she thinks it went well. Assuming she gets an offer.... What do I need to know about Northern Idaho before we make a decision?

Orofino in particular, and Idaho in general, is just a shitty place to be.
I hear Texas is nice. You hear all the time how the Texas women are the prettiest in the USA and probably the world. Texas is on the Gulf of Mexico which has all sorts of great fishing. Texas has people who fly in from all over the world to hunt. Texans are so proud to be Texans that they will tell you every chance they get. Texas is a very diverse state. Texas has lots and lots of lakes just chock full of bass and perch and you can do a cast and blast with feral hogs. Texas has ranches there where you can find exotic animals to hunt.
    Besides, Idaho is full.

Do you offer a lifetime limited warranty on your work?
Absolutely not. I did that job as temporary help for a large commercial contractor. I had zero control over anything.

We're both extremely conservative and productive. We'll offset a few Californians. Nice try though.

    Are you masturbating?

I sit up in the NW corner of Wisconsin and wonder how anyone would live in that area and towards Milwaukee. I have to come to Lodi for matches a few times a year, but that is as close as I'm going to come.
    Cheers

If you can make a decent living, Idaho is the tits. The only thing keeping me and the wife out are the lower than shit salaries for firefighters and teachers.

    ZCO is also there.
I have an uncle who has lived in that area for over 50 years and Orofino for at least 30. My brother lives "up the hill" from there. I live not far away, as does my sister and my mother. We moved here in 1970 after my dad was KIA Vietnam. The Kommifornians moving in have real estate prices skyrocketing. Everyone associated with construction of any sort is slammed. It's a small town though, small town politics and everyone knows your business.

Well you're far enough from Spokanistan so you probably won't have to deal with hordes of Spokanis over running your area in the summer like near CdA.

pretty much anything south of hwy 10 is dogshit. this fucking state..aint as bad as it used to be, but it could be a whole lot better. all they’d have to do is draw a line between lacrosse and two rivers, and give that dogshit to illinois. then, take over the U.P. and blow the bridge to keep the trolls from coming up.

if you can un-ass southern wisconsin, do so at the soonest point possible.

I'm originally from Marshfield, right on Highway 10...

my oldest was born in marshfield. my mother was from medford. i am from Texas, but have been here entirely too long. only part of the state i havent spent time in is the milwaukee area.....dont mistake that for a complaint. most of the last 26 years have been north of hwy 10. 2 and a half more, and i am outta here.

    from Iowa with love.

The rush hour commute is plain hell.... Highway 12 is the only way in or out.... 2 lanes with very few turn outs.... I have no idea where all of the people are going but they are in a hurry in either direction, morning or evening... some of the craziest drivers I have been around.... If you are pulling a trailer it's 10 times worse..... I will take the cut through there only in the middle of the night.... That route is the cut through from Lolo, MT to Coeur D Alene and points West... If you like the area look at McCall ($$$), Salmon ($$), St. Maries ($), Koosika.....

Right to work. Plan on running your own business, and don't be surprised when you get offers for $25/hr as a contractor. People will scoff at you if you try to charge realistic rates.

Californians are doing their best to turn it into the next Oregon.

    I know orofino well
    I absolutely love it there.
    Great people
    Great fishing
    Great hunting
    Great scenery

    Watch out driving in town
    Tons of deer.
    Mexican place is decent
The restaurant at the hotel on the river has some upscale food

I would move there in a heartbeat if I had a job and land for my livestock. Idaho is seeing a LARGE influx from CA, OR and WA as they are fleeing those shitholes.

I lived in Boise for a year and then moved 2 hours North in a small town. The only issue I had was finding a decent paying job most people in rural areas up in Idaho are on fixed incomes or self-employed or work for the forest service or municipalities in the area.

I fled CA for Wisconsin and lived in the Madison. Yeah, Madison has huge communist influence throughout the campus, but the state is overall better than CA.

I loved it out there and I do miss it, I’m living in WA now. It’s terribly socialist here.

fixed incomes or self-employed or work for the forest service or municipalities
As it is in most rural western towns, the people with the strongest anti-government sentiments fail to recognize that everyone in their town is on some kind of welfare or works for the forest service, highway dept., the school or the city. Also my experience in towns like those has been that if your family doesn’t run several generations deep you will be treated like an outsider for as long as you can tolerate living there. Idaho has some of the worst employee protection laws in the country, and has a history of being the destination for a massive migration out of the south right after the Civil War. That’s why there are plenty of place names there like Atlanta and Dixie and Stanley.

Long story short, if you’re white and can haul a pile of money there to set yourself up well AND you can tolerate being despised for being an outsider you’ll probably be OK. If you’re not taking a pile of money there and you’re gonna be looking for work, it’s probably going to be less enjoyable.

    The cancer has metastasized!
Take it from someone whose state was stolen by commies starting in the 1980's.

Eliminate them now. Make their life hard. Do not let them nest. Drive them out. With extreme prejudice.

They will seek out beautiful places. And destroy them.

Do not let it happen to your state. Stop the influx.

It's looking like the sticking point is me being able to find a decent job. Wife is super excited about her end but I'm not finding shit. I could take a little less than I currently make because the cost of living is lower but not as low as I'm seeing so far. I'm seeing first year apprentice wages and money I made in high-school .

Welcome to Idaho! 😁 As a carpenter I don't know, you might try Clearwater Paper and see what they have available but that would mean a commute to Lewiston.

Don't mind a commute. I do an hour now. Traveled up to 4 hours and lived in shitty hotels until my older son was 5. Would prefer not doing that again... I'm not seeing anything at a remotely acceptable loss.

The wife and I are both taking a 50% pay cut moving to ID but a 100% increase in quality of life and liberty.

Its deffinately not an area with a ton of job offerings.

You'd probably want to plan on a commute to Lewiston to have an OK job pool.

CCI has a plant in Lewiston.

idaho is going down the drain because all the locals sell their land to californians and also get on gun forums and tell the conservatives to move somewhere else while the transplanted liberals welcome all the other libtard friends

CCI/Speer is begging for employees, we seem to have exhausted the local talent pool and they were asking us if we knew anybody who wanted to move here for a job. Starting out would be around $18/ hr as a machine operator. They are also looking for a mechanical engineer and engineer techs.

Will they pay in primers or ammo?
