True or bogus wiki crap?

Never mind the ice, use pure sodium bullets.

Re: polygonal rifling = no forensics???

well they may not be able to measure the lands and grooves, but thats not really what they use to match the bullet to the rifle anyway. they use all the lil striation marks and things on the round that make it particular to that gun, not so much measurements.

Re: polygonal rifling = no forensics???

Or, as one "mystery novel" used in the plot line, beat the man to death with a frozen leg of lamb, then cook it and serve it to the inspector who comes to investigate the murder.

Fine idea.

But what do you do with the floorboards, the furniture and the walls which will have red spatters on them??

Re: polygonal rifling = no forensics???

500grains,

It doesn't mean no forensics, it only means there is no way to accurately measure the width of a land nor a groove. There are however still plenty of forensic indicators to be used.

The best bet for not getting caught is Brujeria, or voodoo for the knuckle draggers...

No one ever got convicted for sticking pins in their rival's likeness

Ninjer snipers recover dey bullits. No trace. None.

Re: polygonal rifling = no forensics???

Nothing would leave more conclusive evidence than shooting my HK-91. How many .308's out there have poly barrels and shoot fucked up brass as far as the bullet goes?
Bullets that come out of polygonal barrels give more evidence of the weapon fired IMHO.

Re: polygonal rifling = no forensics???

Less forensics doth not = NO forensics.

Clues abound, including primer residue in many instances. Some brands have certain elements that others do not. Possession of ammo consistent with what was used in the crime is one more brick building the masonry gallows, so to speak. One incident I personally know of led to a quick guilty plea because the single fired case found at the scene matched what was in the suspect's magazine, which was "downloaded" by exactly one...and the ammo was rare for the area. Breechface markings didn't help ID the actual gun, but everything else did.

Less forensics doth NOT a failure to "clear" the crime make.
