Anyone who lies about being a citizen to get a job gets a tax return. Then they lie about being a single mother, and how many kids they have. They get a nice tax interception, and welfare check to boot.

I get it and understand, that certain checks and balances, should be in place, but, I thought you had to have a bank account (how do you get an "account", without verifying who you are? I have always had to show a Drivers License at least), because the monies are sent "Direct Deposit", or, aren't they?? I don't get one, so, there's that. Mac

The stimulus is only sent direct deposit if your last tax return resulted in a refund and you opted for direct deposit.

Well, if that's the case, ONLY Tax Payers should get any kind of relief check. Because, I was under the understanding, the IRS went back 3 years of your previous Tax Returns. IF you have not paid taxes (the right for the .gov to steal from you), then sucks to be you. Mac

Hahaha! I just read an article that said 1.1 million stimulus payments were sent to dead people. I suspect if someone's idea of paying taxes is net more back than was withheld (EIC, child credits, etc.), Pelosi and Co. still want you to get a check too. You can't have the stimulus disproportionately benefit the rich.

And I don't know about three years. I suspect they are only looking at one year. I say this because I always pay in net, but adjust withholdings to cut it as close as possible. Last year I filed on the Covid extended due date. Almost eight months later that return has not been processed. The IRS website doesn't show anything. I've called twice and been told the same thing; the processing center had been closed, it has since reopened but short staffed, they are way behind, that mine hasn't been processed is not out of the ordinary, don't file another return. Just wait. We are already in the filing period for 2020 and they aren't finished with 2019 returns.

That was my first return ever that I opted for direct deposit of my refund so that would mean I should have received the stimulus on a paper check. Didn't happen. No stimulus. No refund from 2019 yet. Thank goodness I don't need primers.

you have to file, but that doesn't mean you have to pay any net taxes. over 45% or something that file pay no federal income tax.
the requirement only weeds out folks that make too much to get anything and helps them direct payment.
i didn't get schiff.

I must be a dumbass. I've paid my taxes for the last 49 years (still pay'n em, even though, we're retired) never, ever, been audited (lucky me!), always filed/claimed properly and on-time. I must be doing something wrong.
We don't get that "free money", so, didn't know exactly how the .gov, hands out the "free shit" (I'd suck at being part of the FSA). Mac

if you make close to the minimum and sure, or if some of your income is under the table or undeclared.
i think with the standard deduction, the threshold is around $11/hr. before you start paying (assuming 2000 hours).

Since that account number is linked to the person with the IRS I would imagine that the stimulus is just loaded on the card
