Powder unavailability

I hope they clean up the reloading manuals too it would would be nice if they put that out in a good distribution and told us when they will be finished and what powders will be left with adequate reloading data!

Yeah, because nobody is going to ever need that data again....

I stumbled on 24 lbs of old shotgun powder. Couldn't find data so I called the manufacturer. They couldn't find data so they asked me to send some in. They got back to me a few months later with data.

That powder was older than their archives and yet I was able to put it to good use rather than fertilizing the lawn with it.

I've been able to get my hands on VV powders to suit all my needs over the last 3 years.
It is more available but at times it is tough but not as bad as others.

Also look at SWP (shooters world powder) that's another option that is a little more available as a lot of people don't seem to know about it. I've loaded it in 6.5CM and 6BRA with great results.

You do realize that reloading is a secondary market for these manufacturers, right? At what point would you as a businessman neglect your primary contracts to pander to a niche clientele?

If you really expected to make something happen this would be an open letter to the stupid mother f-ers in the govt that have us handicapped and at the mercy of the global market and economy that is hamstrung feeding multiple wars at the moment.

I am working up loads for a savage elite 338 now the best I found from available powder is 80 grains 4350 with a 300 gr matchking

My sister in law is bi-polar......clearly for those that don't know the OP is as well. you can spot it a mile away.

On the one hand I feel bad. On the other hand the OP likely just stopped taking their meds recently. I honestly wish there was a way to help these people. I mean this sincerely.
Well is one of our participants is OP I am sorry about that I certainly would not want to make the matter worse

The google machine is a wonderful thing:
4350 I read to fast I thought you said 4895 darn I just bought some stuff from them as for 4350 I have 4 pounds. I look every day an buy anything I can use Like Frank said (I think) this is going to last 2 years

I did see those shooters world powders a bit ago IIRC they didn't have anything in the realm of N570 which I burn a lot of.

I like loading .308. It's an easy caliber to get results with. The days of .25 per round are limited to stock on hand from a long time ago. These days I approach $1 a round using match components carefully shopped on sale, in bulk, etc.

I can pay a little more to enjoy my hobby or buy factory ammo. Just do like everyone else. Try new powders when they are priced attractively or pay the going price for your old favorite. Every weekend I see free shipping/haz. Not my first rodeo on component shortages or creative sourcing.

Go be poor somewhere else
Gunny I have looked in at least 6 on suppliers and virtually all IRM powder is out of stock so even a rich man would have trouble. I hope you enjoy these jousts as much as I do you remind me of an old saying when you wrestle in the mud with a pig you get dirty and the pig enjoys it. I hope I am entertaining you.

You must be flat out retarded to not figure out on your own how to use something else that you can find.
Well I have tried and true loads with these powders if use something else I have a lot of otherwise unneeded work to do.
I bet if I gave you a calendar you would criticize it.
Pleasure a have a good day; write soon.

The "Gunnery Sergeant" is just a rank assignment based on number of posts made on the forums. It has been here since I first joined (2007). A lot of us put other things in its place to avoid the rank.

IIRC I think he was actually in the Navy and on a submarine...but I'm getting older and my memory on things I couldn't care less about is starting to lose its sharpness.

Well that's your problem not Hodgdon's or anyone else.
Well my friend we will have to disagree they are in business to supply a product they have not met that commitment so I believe I have an obligation to call them on it. Why do you defend them isn't this a problem for you too. How long have you been reloading I got 55 years at it I think that is probably longer than someone as immature as you. Are you Irish your as thick as one.

They are in business to make money, not to make sure you are supplied with what you want.

so I believe I have an obligation to call them on it.
You do that let us know how it works out

I don't defend Hodgdon or anyone else in the reloading business. They need no defense. I planned ahead and have rifle reloading supplies probably for the next 8 to 10 years. Am also close to being stocked up for at least 5 years of handgun reloading as well.

Nobody gives a shit about that because it's irrelevant to the issue

You're like the second or third fudd this year to come along with the same shtick about writing a strongly worded letter to the reloading components companies. LOL

1) I am glad there are some other great minds out there 2) years experience is important I like to know what level of schmuck you are. 3)they don't make money if they don't provide a product 4) Happy to know your are so well supplied I was too but shooting has worn me supplies down hence my letter. 5) aren't you concerned that some of your material will go stale in 5 or 8 or 10 years ?

Pleasure chatting, write again, soon. Have a good day

Thanks for confirming how little you know about reloading
I know these powders while stable do off gas and that can't be good in the long term I haven't seen a shelf life on any of this but I think is is better to use fresh material than 10 years old. once it is encapsulated in a cartridge in is essentially sealed which is why Ammo has a long shelf life smartie.

55 years experience and you think components go "stale" in 5 to 8 years? And they are making money selling powder as fast as they make it to .gov. By the way break out your copy of the contract you have with them to provide you with product, I seem to have misplaced mine.
Well your right we don't have contracts there are a lot of things that are done for us without written contracts because generally we are dealing with honorable people that want to meet customer expectations

Those faggots definitely won't listen, but will put you on a list for bitchin'.

Yeah, I tried to help but I should have known better. Some people were born to be the dead horse.

I had fantastic ES and SD the other day shooting Varget that was at least 15 years old.
