Re: precision rifles... show em

I need to take some better pictures, but here is my introductory post...

PBR_1.jpg

The second AR from the left now has a Burris Fullfield II resting sweetly atop it. Need to get a pic.

I will be upgrading in the optics department on the PBR and the AR very soon, but I had to do what I could in the meantime in terms of my budget.

That name is out-fucking-standing! You just need to change your first name to John!!

Nice rifles (and shotty), but great name. Hell, we need to keep this guy around so we can start sentences with "Rambo told me . . ."

Re: precision rifles... show em

It's only fun for so many years. Mainly up until the point I hit the police academy, where my last name caused A LOT OF pain.

The first day was especially hell when I showed up with "Rambo" on my name tape and all the tac officers thought it was a joke. I got smoked enough in that one single day to last a lifetime. But pain is weakness leaving the body, so hey, I'm proud of it and my last name!

Glad to be on the forum.

Greetings Jeff,

Pick up the book (First Blood) if you haven't read it. It was on a list of books for a book report in ninth grade (I'm 45 now). It was so engrossing that I blew through it in a couple of sittings. With siblings 5½ and 10½ years older than I, my picture of military folks was negatively skewed by the Vietnam era protests.

The book did a GREAT JOB of introducing me to what special forces operators are really made of.............................................................................................................

I don't know if it is disrespectful for civilians to salute, but I offer my profound appreciation and respect to all those on the pointy end of the stick. To those past, present, and future, we owe our lives, liberty, and eternal gratitude.

Hi technobill,

Welcome to the Hide. Are you here to post a pic of your rifle? If not, there are more appropriate forums on the Hide for your commentary above.

Your input and comments are welcome but in this thread we're just looking at rifles.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Well here she is. It's nothing fancy compared to most of the sticks on here, but I love it. I took a few pictures the other day and just had to show her off.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Nearest thing I have to a precision rifle, until my PSS comes back from the shop.
IMG_1274.jpg

Its a fake 03A4. A number of 03A3 parts were found in the early 90's and Bremmer arms/Parker Hale built them into complete rifles. She was converted to 03A4 config a few years ago by the previous owner.
Scope is a Lyman Alaskan, 2.5 power, post+cross hair reticule. Receiver is Remington, the 4 groove barrel has the following markings near the muzzle - RA, a flaming bomb, 8-43 (anybody any ideas where this barrel was made?)

This rifle is a lot harder to shoot well than both my AR and PSS.
You could say 'she is a labour of love'

Re: precision rifles... show em

This is my latest rig that I had been in the process of accumulating parts for the past several months.
I just shot it yesterday (06/24) and she was a pleasure to shoot. I absolutely love the can (AAC M4-2000) and after shooting a few hundred rounds through it, I'm up in the air on if I actually need a gas buster or not.

Here's the spec's:

-LMT Upper and Bolt/Carrier
-Krieger SAM/R barrel, chambered by Compass Lake
-KAC FF RAS
-GG&G Flip Up Front Sight/Gas Block
-KAC 600m Flip Up Rear Sight
-RRA Lower w/ KAC 2 stage trigger
-Norgon Ambi-Catch
-Sierra Precision SPR Grip
-ARMS #22 High Rings and Leupold 3-9x36 MR/T
-AAC M4-2000

***PIC TO FOLLOW***

Re: precision rifles... show em

I tried to follow pic posting procedures I found in the search feature, so I hope this works.

Winchester M70 Coyote 270 WSM Lapped barrel, trigger set at 3.5 lbs, Bushnell 3200 5-15x40 scope. I know this is not even close to the worst guns some of you have, and probably is not even considered a precision rifle, but I had to start somewhere. I plan on starting a true long range rig when fund$ become available.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Whew, viewed all 27 pages. Couple of observations from a new guy: 1) magazines on ba rifles, and 2) everyone says .308, and not so much 7.62X51? Anyway, until a trade goes through, or not, there's this pic I snapped today, after coat #2 of realmilkpaint pto (thus the missing rear sling swivel).

eta:
1) ba = bolt action
2) M118LR is 7.62

eta2:
1) lol

MOST bolt guns are cut for 308 not the 7.62. That is more a gas gun chamber.

Re: precision rifles... show em

That was my guess but want to be sure.
ML118LR is 7.62 so what. Not a lot of it being shoot by civilians right now.

As for mags on a bolt gun guessing you don't shoot many tactical matches or read the S3 AAR of matches.
