I am in the process of building my first trainer. I have the 20 MOA egw base ordered, bushnell 3200 10x40 scope, Chris Wallis is making me a stock with a Karsten cheek piece. My question is ring height? I wanna go with Bushnell tactical rings but do not know what height I need. Also, Who sells an oversized bolt knob for the Savage? I am following the post in this thread by Top Predator to build my gun.

Thanks

Re: question for Savage mark II owners

I have Weaver medium rings on mine - found them at Wally World for $6.95. I have a 40mm objective as well on a Savage MKII with EGW 20moa base and there's just about 4mm of clearance between my barrel and my lens. Perfect.

Burris XTR low rings will barely give you enough clearance. You can use them with Butler Creek caps as long as you have a non-rotating front bell. Honestly, on a .22LR the XTRs are way overkill. Save some bucks for ammo and stick some "cheaper" rings on there. As long as the 'B' dimension is at least 1/4" as seen here you're GTG.
