Hey all, @Deep South Tactical is gonna be spinning up a couple barrels for me in 6.5 CM, and I aim to run predominantly 147 ELD-M’s, with 140 BTHP’s as a backup.

Is there a preferred/recommended leade angle for either or both of these bullets? I do aim to have it chambered with 0.050” jump using my max reliable COL (mag length minus a bit), and will send those guys a few dummy rounds that should just be kissing the lands at whatever freebore that ends up being (CBTO = max reliable CBTO + 0.050”).

Thanks for any info anyone’s got.

Berger > Hornady. that is all.
Yeah, it definitely seems like a lot of folks feel that way, although there seem to be a similar number of happy Hornady customers too. I guess since we’re on the subject of Bergers for the moment, does the 140gr Hybrid have a recommended leade angle?

honorary makes sense if you shoot factory or 5k + rounds a year. I've never seen people discuss varying the lead angle of a reamer. Plenty of talk on freeborn but nothing of this kind. Good luck with search

Yeah, I expect I’m gonna end up with standard and be just fine, just figured I’d ask to see if a custom angle would be worth the headache and cost. Thanks for the Berger suggestion tho, appreciate all the perspectives I can get :)

Do not worry about leade angle.

I will not matter whether you choose a 1.5* or 3*.
In fact do not "choose" at all. Let your builder use the reamer they know will work and is a proven performer for them.

I defy anyone with any borescope to tell me what the original leade angle was on a barrel that has 500rds down the bore.

Worry about lead angle when you about to win the BR national championship
I hear ya, it’s not like I think it’ll make a huge difference. Would I rebarrel a rifle to change this one variable? Absolutely not. But if I *am* rebarreling anyway, I thought I might choose one option if it was known to be better, since the smith has to cut the chamber either way.

Yeah, after the feedback on this thread, that’s where I’m at, just don’t even bother thinking about it.

Thanks to everyone for the advice!
