Some history, I have owned two Rem mohawk rifles. First in .308, which I regretfully sold. The next was a rough looking 243 that i swapped a Brno .22 for. I screwed a rem 700 7mm08 barrel onto it and bedded it into a rem 7 stock and epoxied over for a blind magazine. It shot beautifully! On a slightly breezy day I had two 3 shot groups (175smk) at 400 yards with less than half an inch vertical dispersion and 1.5 inches horizontal. Never repeated.... So the action is good . The stock got binned , and the barrel put on a l61r sako and rechambered to 280 rem. What chambering, barrel profile, stock to dress up this old girl??? Trying to keep rifle weight (minus scope) under 6.5lbs( the action weighs 31oz) . This will primarily be carried up mountains for chamois and deer.

Always a classic. I found one for my son in .35rem. Not many of those built. Rolled out of the factory the year I ws born. It was a great gift for him when he went off to college. Quite the northwoods boltgun. I would love to see pics if you have them.
