Just booked the ferry ride from Denmark to Faroe Islands to Iceland for Sept/Oct... Arriving in Iceland on Oct 2.

Guess who's riding a motorcycle on a volcano this fall!!!

Trip will start with the T.E. Lawrence Sumposium at Oxford (I have to do something snobby to justify the trip...) then Dunkirk beaches and museum... on to Remagen, Nigmegan and Arnhem. Yes, the bridges. And a couple of amazing naval museums on the German coast. Then on via ferry to Iceland for a week of riding.

From Iceland, bike gets shipped to St. John Newfoundland for the ride home via the TransLabrador next spring.... @ArmyJerry are you with me spring 2019 to go fight off bears and giant blackflies on the translab?

Cheers,

Sirhr

and, im stupid jealous of you again

bastard

lol

This was a blast for the approx. year that I owned it and sold it for what I paid for it. Now they're common and the used prices are more reasonable.

While it is 'street legal' if one put the turn signals back on, and changed the sprocket back to 'stock', I do still have a '80 CT 110 that has been somewhat converted to a 'trials bike' type of thing.

Not a full-on trials, don't get me wrong. But for climbing the hills of B.C. quietly, whilst hunting and pulling game out, this thing is a beaut. Originally, the rear sprockets were 11-45 and we changed it to 11-72. The top speed of the bike is ~33km/h with this setup, but if you can keep your feet on the pegs, then it'll continue to climb the mountain/incline.

I've tried telling people (who try) NOT to put your feet on the ground, cause then the rear wheel will just slip. But when they do stay 'pegged', they continue to climb.

And my bike still has the original tires on it, too. This is a pic from the innerwebz I stole, but that's what it looks like.

Got the rest of my ferries and flights figured out for the next phase of the 'round the world' via Dakar.... 2018 back across EU to Hirtshals... and then by ferry to ride on Faroe Islands and then Iceland. Ship to St. John, Nfld... in the fall. In 2019.... ride across Newfoundland to Labrador and the Trans-Lab. Back home... then 2020... Lincoln Highway and into Alaska.... Currently trying to figure out the Alaska Marine Highway system to see if it's possible to get to Wales or Little Diomede...

Thanks.

Utterly insane is a good description for the 1199. I've been eyeing a Moster 1200S too. Something a bit more chilled out.

Here are three of them. Also have a vintage BMW R100RS, a CB1-400 four and an ancient Trail 90. Got more than one gun too, lol.

This is mine 2000 Yahama VStar 650 classic. Now if I could get my wife interested in riding with me I would have it made.

Nope not me! I only ride Husvarna or KTM's with a deployable chute!

Certain technical areas you just have to be careful.

Here is my 08' Bones. She is a great ride.
I had a 2009 in Black Denim. I loved that bike. I sold it in 2015, unfortunately. I had bought a 2013 Road Glide in January the same year and it just wasn't feasible to keep them both.

I traded the 2013 in on Saturday and picked up a 2018. The suspension on the newer bikes is 10x better than the air suspension I had on my '13.

The exhaust is complete shit, though. I ordered exhaust, intake, a tuner and bars for it on the same day. I'll post another

pic once I've got them installed.

Got two. One for the fun, one for commuting.

Since it's snowing here at the Schloss... and this thread needed a bump... just a fun picture from my ride down RT66 a decade ago... In Texas. A weir in Red Rocks Canyon? Not sure I have the name of the place right. It's Texas' mini Grand Canyon.

You don't need an adventure bike to go on adventures!

For those who ride... any bike. Route 66 is truly The Mother Road. Amazing. Every day it gets better. Despite all the trips in EU and strange out of the way places... Route 66 was the best trip I ever rode!

Cheers,

Sirhr

On the subject of finishing projects...

indian 2.jpg

My '38 Chief when it came home. Running... sort of. Wrong engine. 1/2" thick bondo on all the sheetmetal. Wrong wheels. Wrong... wrong wrong....

1542219227612.png

The same Chief as she sits today.... right everything. I did all the components and the final assembly was handled by a just-starting-out young man in Maine who is working to start his own shop and I've been mentoring him about business and restoration... Nathan has done a wonderful job and is going to go places as a restorer and businessman.

Last bugs being worked out as the first snow fell... but in the spring, she'll be on the road!

Cheers,

Sirhr

Well hell I just bought this a month ago in Phoenix, flew down , bought it and rode back to Minnesota. When I got home Saturday night it was 27 degrees. Snowed Sunday morning. 2013 HD Electra Glide with 253 actual miles on it. I put another 1700 miles on it going home. Then changed the oil and such.
