Got a SMLE in good shooting condition for nothing and it looks like a good gun for my "Truck gun" project. Going to duracoat, do a scout scope base and shorten the barrel, but I was wondering how to get the rear sight off. Looks like if I remove the cross pin, top screw and possibly add some heat it should come right off. Is that how it works?

Thank You
Patrick Scott

BTW, anybody got an XS scout base they want to part with?

Yep, its pinned and sweated on, drive the pin out and a small amount of heat as you twist the barrel it should slide off.

cheers,

JJ

Thanks Jester308,
For some unknown reason I have always liked these rifles. It should be a good scout type rifle when I'm done with it.
