You can make a very comprehensive list of what the enemy could possibly do while sitting at a keyboard but in reality you do not have the resources to cover hundreds of bases. So, you focus on the most probable stuff and often you end up wrong. That's called life.
Butler is a different story. Trump's risk increased by accepting the services of an incompetent SS that was managed by his political enemies. He could have declined their services and hired Erik Prince. The shooter's chances would have been lower and so would have been Trump's chances to win as we now know. God works in mysterious ways.
While a tragic loss at the moment, Charlie's death by an assassin will be a win in the long run. What if the shooter had been spotted and Charlie would have perished in a car accident, plane crash etc? Would we see the current uprising for his mission?
Charlie was asked what he would like to be remembered for and he answered "I want to be remembered for courage for my faith"
I hope that I will die doing what I love and cherish, many knowing what I stood for and few spinning conspiracy theories.

Unfortunately Hindsight’s always 20/20, learn more from your mistakes than you ever do from doing it right. We’re pretty good at that. Always training for the last war… Not sure if complacency was a thing or not, I’m not gonna armchair quarterback it. Charlie’s done hundred if not thousands of these over the years and nothing has ever been an issue. They didn’t do anything different this time than they’ve ever done. It be like that tho, you never get hit in the beginning cuz your heads on a swivel and they know it. They let you get comfortable and relaxed after you’ve been running the same convoy / patrol / operation for weeks / months with never anything happening and then they hit you.
