Enoch and Elijah were translated, so didn’t taste mortal death, nor would there be a reason for them to die after translation I think. I’ve always wondered who these 2 prophets would be for the events described in Revelation. I thought they would be mortals holding the Priesthood, exercising its power over the depraved people in Israel, calling them to repentance like every other prophet has been commanded.
The tribes of Judah have not had a great track record with prophets, typically laughing at them, ignoring them, smiting, then murdering them in brutal fashion. Seems like it will be par for the course.
Historically, God sends his prophets to Israelites first because of the Abrahamic promise, the prophets are rejected, then they are commanded to go among other people who traditionally worship demons and idols.
But so many things are falling into place as described in Revelation, Daniel, and the 4 Gospels. The Levites are already preparing for the construction of the 3rd Temple, learning the Temple ceremonies.
Most Jews are clueless as to where the 2nd Temple was even located, since Jerusalem and the City of David have been destroyed so many times over since 70 AD.
There is a very compelling case that has been made for the 2nd Temple having been built in the City of David, connected to Jerusalem’s walls by a short concourse. This was described in the 1st Century before the Romans destroyed it, not leaving any stones on top of each other under the Temple mound. The Roman garrison and fort couldn’t exist on top of the 2nd Temple, and we know both were present at the time of Christ.
