When I went to school, I was taught that the United States was a melting pot...of people from all over the world and that the best of each culture is what made America great. I later found out that is not true. Each culture tends to stick with their own kind in their own little enclaves. I also found out that, surprisingly, the country of Brazil was a true example of a melting pot, where people of different cultures all mix together. Today, the U.S. is more divided then ever, not just the two political groups, but different cultures, races and religions. There is a phrase, separate but equal, but that is most definitely not true here in the U.S. For when one rises above another, usually economically they try to keep others down. It all comes down to the mighty dollar. Accumulate all you can. One day, it will all go up in smoke if it is paper. What will the monetary value be in the future? Plastic? Water? Food? Ammo?
The idea of the Melting Pot was not perfect and Nativists resisted but what was different was that the in coming immigrants WANTED to be accepted as an American.
They learned English, they were sort of overly Patriotic, they loved the culture.
Sure they celebrated their old traditions but generally they waved an American flag and they did not wish to make their new home like their old or change what was here.
Brazil is a huge mashup of different people indigenous, Portuguese, Italian German, African. Brazils different backgrounds though are very stratified. Your place/class of birth may determine the level of your attainment.
The glory of the USA was that if you work your ass off you have the opportunity to succeed. Sure you will meet bias and obstacles but if you want it and work for it nothing is unachievable.
Compare that to India where your status/class/tribe may exclude you from certain opportunities. No matter what you do, from birth their is a limit to your achievement in your own country.
To some extent that lack of opportunity exists in South America.
The dems are indoctrinating their brainwashed followers to believe America has this institutional block on success.
How do they do that while ignoring our last President was black, women hold positions of importance, other minorities are represented in high professional/profile positions, our athletes know no color/race barrier and they unbelievable payouts.
The value of the Melting Pot was the promotion of one culture - the American Culture. We are replacing it with the Buffet Line having all these separate cultures.
E Pluribus Unum is strength and a unified country
E Pluribus Multis is weakness and Balkanization
We are taking a unified common culture and creating the mess of the Sykes-Picot Middle East through importation of non assimilating cultures
