Hi folks. I try my best to not be too commercial in this part of the forum, but this is pretty exciting. We are importing Steiner MX7i with MSR2 reticle (only) in the new 4-28x56 black scope. Pretty exciting. We have a few set aside for 'hide cash pricing, but I think you will find the scope, the timing and the pricing pretty attractive in the links below.

I have not seen any independent reviews of the M7Xi, but from my limited handling, I think Steiner has hit on their hands. I am not sure how they offer this scope at lower pricing than the M5Xi. I am sure others will take it apart and judge it more fairly, but I cannot imaging anyone buying a Vortex Razor HD if you can get a Steiner, unless you just don't like the reticle. I say that as a dealer for both brands, but I also admit a soft spot for the underdog, and for Steiner, in particular, so my opinion is a little biased. :geek:

    Note: CW "European" turrets, non-locking

They didn't last long...scope looks reasonably compact too, compared to the M5Xi anyway.

It is a little more than an inch shorter, and a smidge lighter. It looks even shorter, but pics are deceiving.

Are the CW turrets special ordered or something? I have one on order and was assured that the US models are CCW?

These are European models, and yes, special purchase. The US scopes (CCW) are not set to ship for a few months. My concern is always about availability. It has been very hard to get M Series scopes, that direct import is sometimes viable with European scopes. And, there are often deals on scopes that we don't see (and perhaps visa-versa).

I think the big question for most is how does the M7Xi compare to the M5Xi in regard to turrets and glass. The fact that Steiner made the M7Xi shorter, lighter and with a wider magnification range for "cheaper" than current M5Xi's makes some nervous about what corners had to be cut in this scope in order to offer it at a lower price point? Or was the M5Xi's price unnaturally high due to government contracts? An explanation from someone in the know at Steiner would be helpful.

The M5Xi has been a bargain to buy here on SH. Solid design and the turrets are great IMHO. I have 2 and one of them has excellent glass while the other is so-so. I'm looking forward to see how the M7Xi turns out.

Great question. In Europe, the reviews on the M7Xi are very good. There has been a fair amount of feedback from US based dealers that the M5Xi was both a) too expensive in the market, and; b) very hard to get. Your point on Military contracts is probably spot-on to both of these points. I went to grab a T-3 M5Xi from Colorado warehouse, and it was gone in 24 hours. Next available scope - 6 months out. I am a fan of the Steiner Military line, but it is hard to sell something that is priced on a par with S&B and is out of stock. Sort of hard to gain a loyal following.

I suspect that the quality is A+ on the M7Xi, and will have greater availability and bypass the military market for now. Most mil contracts buy last year's technology.

I don’t want to derail Longshot’s theead, but there is some more info in this thread on the M7 if anyone was looking. A few of us have them on order already and will be updating with initial impressions, comparisons, etc. as the US models start to pop up.

Thanks, @just browsing , I did not see that thread before.

We will be taking orders on US models as well. Just knowing that we are months away, we have not started yet. We just happened upon this offer, and wanted to share.

Our experience is that dates slip, and slip, and slip with German scope brands, not just Steiner. We just sold our first S&B 1-8x dual last week... and still waiting to hear when they will officially arrive in the US. We also look at USD-EUR rates. 2016 was very favorable, and then 2017 was not. Just recently, with the EUR under 1.20, direct ordering is viable. Lots of moving parts.
