Supercross? AMA? MotoGP?

Haha sorry bud im all for roczen. Going to be one hell of a comeback for him to win after all h oh s breaks and time away. Been rooting for him since he was a fill in rider on these ktm 350.

Something about tomac bugs me...but i like him a lot more than later era stewart.

Here, some vintage bike porn for ya!

I loved riding/racing dirt bikes. Started out on a 79 CR250 ended on a 86 CR250. Wrist, knee, shoulder and back finally put an end to that. I still miss it. Mostly desert with some mx and gp thrown in there.

So far the SLC SX action has been decent. I haven't watched Sundays race yet but its nice to see some racing.

Need to figure out of I can watch the AMA road racing show with the channels I get, and then cross my fingers for WSBK and MotoGP to start up again. haven't seen much there, so not holding out much hope right now.

We have what used to be AMA...now MotoAmerica superbikes at Road Atlanta the weekend of August 1.

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Any of you men that make it, I'll cover lunch on Sunday.

As a side note: there is Formula Drift on July 4. I know it isn't two wheels, but this is fun to watch. Didn't think I would like it, but my boys insisted. Had a great time before. They set up and hammered through turns 10A and B.

I'm down to four bikes, my last purchase was a KTM 790 last year. It's been a full year since I've bought a motorcycle, pretty sure that's a record.

Here's the current stable...

I should be at Road A and Barber barring other commitments. Haven't missed many years of either round, so should be nice this year having it later in the season at least for Barber.

got youtube tv now so I can watch some of the Motoamerica racing. Saw the highlights of Road America, and will check tonight and see when the next televised races will be on so I can record them.

Hopefully will get back on the track this year, Jennings in September. Have't had my 1290 on the track yet, should be fun.

Great race. I would liked to have seen Anderson and Osborne on the Husqvarnas kicking more ass, but was yelling at Tomac to square it.

E

Anderson ran pretty well I thought, didn’t he get passed late by tomac? Don’t know where he finished but was thinking 4th

Why is it not on tv? I just went through every channel and nothing, how are you watching? WTF!

Some great racing. Don't think we'll see Tomac do anything but cruise the start on the inside and then fight through the pack to 3rd or 2nd. Gotta get the NBC Gold Pass. That network has been ultra reliable this year for us. Cheapest if you combine SX and MX. That way no matter what happens you can watch the show and if you are busy you can watch the replays. I heard several guys have had their local NBC stations switch to horse racing in the middle of the very last race of SX! Just stupid.

Yes they did. i was glad for Zach and Dean. Kind of crazy race. I want to know the status of AC. Did he break something. What happened to Webb?

Yep, first win out of the season for Husky and they go 1, 2, 3. A bit of a dubious achievement. But glad for them to get a win.

Tomac rode a smart season. And Sexton is a beast. He's not very warm and fuzzy, but he is the fastest rider. Sad part was that Shane was robbed of two leads by red flags.

I feel bad for Shane I know some of his famly and they are all good people .. red flag 2 times when he was out front and Sexton was deep in the pack. And on the restart Sexton got it right and goes off and wins..

Do they call red flags more now than they used to like 10 years ago? Or dose it just seem that way ?

I doubt anyone was fired up for Road Atlanta 1AUG. I offered lunch on Sunday. Raincheck.

Nebraska is a requirement during that time.

I think they call them more now, and have a better staffed on site medical team. Overall a good thing but can certainly mess with a race. In this instance I think Chase was actually pretty close both times and I doubt the outcome would have been any different. Shane might be an ok guy but Star Yamaha are a bunch of twats in my view. Screwing around with the gates, baseless fuel protests, team orders, etc. I was happy to see Chase cinch it. He won the old fashioned way--by going faster than anyone else and that's what racing is all about to me.

Im not a huge follower but I enjoy MX, SX and Moto GP. Worked Moto GP at Laguna Seca and Brno. Been covering dirtbikes in Baja for 15 years.

One from Moto GP CZ and a Kurt Caselli about 12 hours before he died at the Baja 1000.

MotoGP starting this weekend finally! Can't wait to see how the teams have prepped for this year and the riders.

SX is over and pretty happy with the Tomac title. Feel bad for KR but he'll get him time in the light. Just needs to have a few cards fall his way, maybe next year. 250 class was interesting. As for the flags I think they are being more cautious this year because of some bad injuries the past few years around the world and the extra attention on moving folks "out of the way".

Glad that more racing is starting up, will try to make one of the MX nationals this year (Lorettas or FL) and hopefully either Road A or Barber depending upon timing.

freakin hot out there now, just finished a 4 day DS ride on the Kentucky Adventure Trail with some friends. stupid hot on the trails. but fun.

Anybody watch the GP race? Marquez is insane. Almost a great comeback.

I agree on the Tomac win. No active rider even comes close to Tomac in the number of first-place finishes in supercross. He earned that title. Now looking forward to MX.

I just had a total knee replacement July 2. Specifically scheduled it for early summer so I can miss the hot season and be ready to ride at the end of October. About the same weather here in SC as in your neck of the woods. Riding fast trails here in summer with full armor can be a challenge. Thankfully I work about 4 hours a day in my 100 degree warehouse, which causes the body to make a lot of heat adaptations.

I was curious after reading your post what there claiming. I read 190hp and 89.3 tourque. After being immersed in this industry since I was knee high to a grasshopper I think those numbers could be fairly close and not exaggerated to badly. Most I would say is shave off maybe 3-5% would be a safe assumption of the number. Just my opinion without thinking to much. What were you thinking?

My latest was a 2011. They claimed 165 then. I think the BMW was north of 190.

Not that the number means much. More about area under the curve. Hard to keep the front wheel down when hammering on it.

I have the itch again...and that's not a good thing

E

Edit: that was why I asked. Don't trust published numbers. When the 96 750 came out there were some 'things". We had to work on several to correct those "things".

Well it’s tough to keep the front end down on any liter bike when hammering on it. No matter the brand. Better scratch that itch with a new gsxr

For me the only reviews that matter are Road Racing World. When they dyno test bikes they do it right, as well as any other testing. I've been involved with them in the past from a manufacturers standpoint, and while you may want to argue about the outcome, it's hard to argue with their testing and validity of the testing/riders. I'd keep an eye out for when they get their hands on one and see what they say.

Most of the liter bikes have reached a point where HP really is pretty irrelevant unless you are drag racing. As long as you are in the hunt, it's more about the electronics, feel of the bike, suspension, etc. How the bike handles the power is more important. The BMW has been king of the hill for a few years but I don't see a ton of them in the the mountains where I ride. Track, somewhat but they are $$ to work on and fix if you toss it down the track. Buddy has a well set up one that the dealer still can't fix and figure out why it stumbles every so often on the track (leading to crashing).

most of the guys I ride with on the street now have mostly moved to naked bikes. I have a 1290 Super Duke, buddy has the aprilia Tuono, another a Hypermotard, 890 Duke, etc. We can ride all day, or multi day trips if we want, and plenty of performance for our riding (SE US). A good day of riding for us could be 400+ miles, most of it on twisty roads.

Love MotoGP. Went to the inaugural race at Circuit of America in Austin. Unbelievable in person. Isle of Man is the shit though. Those guys are psychotic

hopefully not a spoiler for anyone about the MotoGP races....

but pretty excited for KTM to have their first win in MotoGP. I've watched them for a while on the AMA MX/SX and international MXGP racing and their methods for moving forward and they seem to be on their way in MotoGP. I know MM is out right now, but from watching the first few rounds it looked like Bradl had the speed/lap times but not the starts or qualifying times. either way it was nice to see some new faces up front in the finishing (and starting) order.

WSBK is off and running, hoping Gerloff can move forward, and nice to see Roberts get on the podium in Moto2.

and AMA MX starts next weekend, at Loretta Lynns ranch in TN. Wish I had some spare time to run over there, I've been there once for the amateur races and once for a dual sport event. Cool place if anyone happens to be in the area.
