Start off by saying, wow shipping is fast. Second, my rings were back ordered, so they gave me some high end rings that cost 1/3rd more for the same price.... Love SWFA

Well, my Falcon Menace finally stopped tracking, since this is my mule rifle I didn't want to spend a bunch on a scope. Decided on the new mil/mil 10x42 SS. I'm shooting tomorrow, was planning on ladder testing my 300 Winny with some new loads, but I guess I will be there a bit longer!!

Initial impressions are, its seems heavy duty, but it is lighter than the Falcon it replaced, might be due to the lack of adjustment mechanism. It does seem beefy. Clicks are a bit stiff, but definitely positive both tactility and audibly. The obligatory look across the street, shows good resolution, but will test that out tomorrow. No fishbowl effect...

See what she does tomorrow!

Ok I'm looking at buying this scope, one thing I noticed though. The 10x42M is $100 more and the only difference that I can see is the side focus. The one with the rear focus is $300. Is having a side focus really worth a hundred bucks?

Not to me. I'm a lefty and prefer to correct parallax with my off hand with the rear focus, but it's all about preference.
I've had my 10X for several years and it still works as good as it did when I bought it.
The new 12x just arrived and I hope to try it out soon.

I have the SS 10x42 on my Mosin M39 and love it, ordered a 12x42 for my 700 came in damaged from shipping hoping to get another one back soon to try it out. Thought I wouldnt like the fixed power but It really doesn't really bother me.
