I am a furloughed Federal Employee. I’m also uber-conservative and pro-gun. As such I’m not the type of so-called “conservative” that believes in no government.
No government is anarchy and that’s not good. We need some government but not as much as the socialist democrats want to see.
I’ve heard all the jokes and comments about government employees being worthless and lazy. It comes with the territory and I take those comments in stride. The government sector, civil service has a large cross section of society working there. With that said, you will find lazy people and those that put in an honest day’s work for an honest day’s wage.
A lot of my colleagues are hard workers and let me assure you, we are not over paid. I’d like to tell you what I do but I’m prevented by my work rules. I would like to have a job that I could go back to. So, I’m not going to break those rules and risk exposing my identity.
When I left my civilian job for government service, I took a 50% pay cut. I knew that before accepting the position that I have now. There were other trade-offs that made working for the government more attractive.
One of those attractions was not having to work as much as I did in my civilian job. That doesn’t mean that I don’t work now. I just don’t work as hard. Another thing that I get paid for is not for what I do but for what I know.
I have over 40 years of experience in my field. The government can’t manufacture that experience and has to get it from the civil sector of the industry. I cannot overemphasize this enough; I get paid for what I know not for what I do.
So, it might look to some folks as if I’m not working at all. If you knew what I have done with my life, you would be darn glad that you have someone like me in the position that I occupy.
I provide oversight and conduct inspections on a very safety sensitive industry. Unfortunately, it is the Democrats who are holding employees like me hostage, don’t care about American citizens and hate our Federal Republic.
A lot of people tell me that I will be back to work and I’ll get back pay. I really hope they are right but there is no guarantee of that. It takes legislation from both houses and the President’s signature for me to get back pay.
I wish I could go into details about why I can’t find temporary employment in my field but that would give away too much about me. Hopefully, you can all appreciate that. If you don’t then why don’t you post your real names and addresses on this forum. I want to enjoy a certain degree of anonymity for the same reason the rest of you do.
My particular job and department that I work under is apolitical. We are here strictly for the safety of all Americans. That’s all I can tell you.
So, before anyone paints all Federal Employees with the same broad-brush stroke, please remember that there are still quite a few of us that want to see a big-ass wall or barrier on the border.
There are still quite a few of us that would like to see every illegal immigrant kicked out of this country.
There are still a lot of us that believe the best way to solve our fiscal problems is to stop giving money to people that are capable working but WILL NOT work. And that includes the illegal immigrants.
My heart goes out to the people who have loved ones killed by illegal immigrant criminals. I have bills and a mortgage to pay. Sure, I will miss a paycheck. I’m hoping it’s only one paycheck.
The said thing is, I might get back pay but the families of those victims will never get their loved ones back.
So, the next time you harbor any thoughts about some of us government employees as being worthless and overpaid please keep in mind that there are quite a few of us who have given up a lot for your safety and well-being. There are some of us that want a wall on the border and the illegals out of this country. We are the ones that are being used by the Democrats just because they hate Trump.
