To brake or not to brake?

Eye-oh-wah
I asked this same question on accurate shooters and got a split decision. I’m assembling a 24” varmint contour 6br. Would you put a brake on this or not? Mostly a bench gun, might serve some time as a walking
Varminter.

Thanks!

I had my 5.56 can sent in for repair, so decided to try out a brake to keep flip down.
Guess I'm spoiled, could not wait for the can to get back.

Not much recoil in small caliber but muzzle flip and in case of a break the blast
annoyed me more than the muzzle flip.

My accuracy was much better with can same gun as a test than flash hider or break.

A suppressor is out of the question. The logistics of obtaining one, waiting, and cost don’t appeal to me. That dream will always be a meme.
That’s what I thought also. Put it off for 20 years. Shouldn’t have waited so long. Now I don’t want to shoot without one.

I would go standard muzzle then, as the brakes are loud, and kill your hearing (even wearing muffs or plugs).

None of these need a brake to see your shot. You can shoot all day if you have the need and never need a brake.

I have a 22” Brux #4 barrel in 6BR which is lighter than what you are building. No need for a brake to see hits if you are behind the gun correctly. If you shoot with a buddy, he will appreciate you not braking it, and so will you if you ever need to take a shot without ear pro.
