I use a magnifying glass to see that the lines are parallel on my balance beam scale. This is to get each powder charge as close as I can. My shooting buddy thinks I out of my mind! He thinks just close is good and there is no noticeable difference if there is a couple of kernels more or less. His scale is not even at eye level. Am I one of very few that uses a magnifying glass to look at their scale ?? THANKS

If you worked up a good load, you can vary the powder charge a fair amount either way and not affect accuracy. Quite a few BR shooters still throw their charges. Weighing becomes more important at longer ranges, in my opinion. At 600 yards and in, I wouldn't bother with charges that accurate. Even past that, I don't think it's worth taking a magnifying glass to it. Many, many long range shooters are using RCBS Chargemasters with great success, which tend to weigh to +/-.05gr (.1gr ES).

We worry about trimming our cases to the same length as near as we can, and have a fair stab at seating the bullet with a nod to consistency, shouldn't we be doing our best with the powder charge when it's so easy.

I know, if you're in the middle of a node, a few kernels either way probably doesn't make much difference, especially at the shorter distances, but then a few thou here or there with the case length or seating depth probably doesn't make much difference either but it all adds up - If you want to make an accurate round the details matter.

Here's a simple trick for beam scale users.
Monitor Balance Beam with Magnified Image on SmartPhone « Daily Bulletin

and this is how I do it.
