Read the comments, mine is currently 2nd to last.

The point of this is - I honestly was looking for a mushroom cloud over Bremerton, that's how loud they were....

I've heard F-15's at 20,000 feet goingvertical and breaking the sound barrier but these were about 2-3000 feet over WATER (Most of the area here is water).

Afghanistan 2008 - 2 F-15's flew over my convoy when we were stopped waiting on medevac birds. They were no more than 1000 feet off the deck. Gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

It's just a shame you weren't out there to actualy see them do it. Tipical dumbass pilot, violating TFR's. Same story different day. Cool that the went super sonic for you guys thou.

Don't you know to plan your schedule around presidential visits?!

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

I got to see/feel/hear the SR-71 break the sound barrier over Futenma MCAS while I was there way back. The thing would take off from Kadena AB, circle as it refueled, then come straight at us. As it was over the compound, BA BOOM and GONE! It was freakin awesome. Only thing that ever came cose was the F16's over our heads in Afghanistan during OEF VII

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

This Spring I watched the Shuttle night launch from a picnic spot on Patrick AFB, then waited/watched some days later to see it overfly Orlando on its landing approach. Yep, BaddaBoom. Double sonic shockwave.

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

I get the pleasure of hearing the double boom from the shuttle whenever it comes in to land. I guess it is one of the few (I mean very few) advantages of living in Orlando.

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

wouldn't be a prob if the pres would stop shutting down the freakin airspace system to go on his fundraising bs.

BTW. This isn't political...its job entailed. Having to work around all these TFR's is a pain in the arse.

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

Usually the Portland F-15s fly over my house when they leave but I guess they took a different route. I'd have loved to see them go supersonic.

Interesting that the F-15s left from Portland to get to Seattle. Isn't McChord closer? You'd think they would park something there during a POTUS visit.

You mean fighters besides the ones in portland, I think mountain home could get F-15's there before Lemoore.

The schedules aren't up to us. You go when your supposed to go. Then AF 1/2 shows up and screws the pooch.

I remember flying the 1900 (puddle jumper) out of FLL when Bush came down one summer. I as held outside the plane on the tarmac for 20 min while he landed and left the airport in the limo.

We understand the security issues, but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

As dramatic as it is to folks on the ground, when you're the one actuating the stick and throttle, it's rather anticlimactic. No sound, no bumps, no bells and whistles, just the mach meter crossing over to 1.0. Those dudes were far too busy running the intercept to concern themselves with the air show they were inadvertently putting on.

Re: Two POTTUS F-15's go supersonic over my house!

I grew up in farmland between a B-52 base (Oscoda, MI) and the fighter base north of Detroit. It was cool to watch them practice overhead.

The problem was, the a-hole pilots had no consideration for the rules. There was a 5,000 ft operational floor but it was violated constantly. Back from college for the summer, I was working as a painter on the shore. I was 30ft up on a ladder, clinging on with one hand while reaching out with an airless sprayer with the other, when some hotrod F-16 pilot decided to come overhead and break the sound barrier at about 500 feet. Damn need fell to my death, and the window I was working by cracked.

If you ever broke a window in base housing, you waited until the day following a SR71 take-off to report it to CE. Saved me once.

In '83 or '84 a batch of WWII bombs were uncovered on Kadena AB. It was quite an operation that required a good bit of base housing to be evacuated. The day EOD was moving them, a jet jock broke the sound barrier. Word was the offender (captain, as I recall) had to stand before the air division commander to explain his actions.

over the AC expressway we get to see A-10s once in awhile, also while on the beach. They cruise down the coastline. They are my favorite plane. Big mean nasty suckers.
