OK, new meat dumb as a rock & nevah owned a mildot scope/reticle. SFP is spot-on at one magnification, as I understand, in relation to the reticle marks.

On the tables, from 10-50X, are the values of the various marks/measurements A-J of the mildot reticle.

24X is in red & I presume the spot-on magnification. Using F & G values at 24X shows 0.500 & 0.250. G is a quarter whilst H is one half.

Going to half magnification of 12X F & G are 1.000 & 0.500 or twice as much as 24X. Likewise, double of 24 X, 48X shows half of 24X values 0.250 & 0.125/ 1/4 & 1/8.

I'm not attempting to combine MOA w/Mildot it's just easy for me to note the relationship betwixt various powers halved or doubled.

If I zero the scope at 24X then the values/distance of marks on reticle would be twice that at 12 X or half at 48X?

Being .05 MRAD then 20 clicks equals one mil?

Sighted in at At 24X has F at .500 or 10 clicks, 12X 20 clicks or 48X 5 clicks on turret?

I read this twice and I am still not sure what you are asking.

F is the height (or length depending on how you look) of the large hash. It sounds like you are correlating it to the number of clicks for some reason.

If I understand this correctly, then your arithmetic is correct.

This scope is calibrated for the reticle dimensions to be accurate at 24x, so all the dimensions are double at 12x and half at 48x.

What magnification you zero the scope at, should not make any difference. The primary aiming dot should not be shifting with magnification.

As a general side note, there is a reason why people who use the reticle a lot tend to lean for FFP scopes. With SFP you always have to note which magnification you are at and adjust accordingly.

Are you shooting FT or something?

Just curious what the application is.

Thanks not only for your reply, but inquiry as well. "The primary aiming dot should not be shifting with magnification." I don't know why that escaped me. I'm immersing myself in mil-dot as best I can before the rings arrive on Monday. I read a mil is 3.6"/100 yds or meters, I forget, 36"/1000. The concept is slowly seepin' in the old noodle. It seems that using 1 mil to 3.6 that 0.05 mil would be betwixt 1/4 & 1/8" listing closer to 1/8 at 100 yds/meters. Is that correct?

Save one, Nikon Monarch III 3-12x42 SF FFP, all of my modest scopes are SFP. No FT and oddly enough I suppose I rarely shoot farther than tree rats raiding the bird feeder in the back yard. Even then me choice is a 10" SS fluted BB single shot left hand bolt .22LR, yes the Chipmunk, using two shotgun beads, larger diameter brass in the back w/evah so slightly taller/skinnier SS in front, for sights and CB or target shorts.

Fav combo is a 552 Remington w/early 70's MIJ 2.5x32 w/post reticle & fine horizontal wire; Model 562P Centra-Reticle. A mail order company outa Houston imported them. Not sure if it still retains the nitrogen charge though I do not notice it fogging up. Naturally, the rnd is CCI 27gn SHP.

I wonder also about the fascination over the Sightron. At a mite over 2.5lbs, sans rings, complimented w/monster turrets it is the epitome of a portly redheaded stepchild. The SV SS Sightron, apparently due to no ZS, appears to be the Rodney Dangerfield of glass. Especially the non-ED versions. I note a Sightron thread in which you posted. Out of 45 posts 20 had nothing/no mention of the scope. I tell ya Sightron gets no respect no respect at all.

What, are you kiddin' me? I could do bettah w/couple of magnifying glasses, a leftover cardboard terlit roll, some rubberbands and a matchstick for a reticle.

I dunno, it was used and no other fool would purchase it. It languished for days on Amazon. I set me price drop and wouldn't ya know it still nobody else wanted it. Sadly, I really have nothing to mount it upon unless I wish to play w/lever action 45-70.

Big, heavy, gaudy 10-50x60 w/o ZS, or uber dense glass, mil-dot reticle whilst sportin' SFP. It has everything nobody wants. At least none wished to pay the original asking price of $852 used 'like' new. It's said there's a sucker born every minute. I suppose I'd purchase the Brooklyn Bridge if you had a letter of authenticity.

For some reason I've wanted to peer through a 60mm scope. A local gun dealer told me once to buy as much glass as I could afford. Same fella sold me a Laurona SST O/U 20 bore w/o the 12 bore set for 400 simoleons. So, I'm not sure how much faith I can place in his word. I don't figure I put the cart before the horse. If I purchased the rifle first it would be quite the feat to sight down the side of a bull barrel hitting a target smaller than the broad side of a barn.

As I read it would seem the 6mm Creedmore is all the rage. I'm not sure at this time what type rifle I want. I can mount the scope on a .17 WSM SS BB and play around w/it first to see if I like this style scope. Should it not suit me fancy the option of returning it for refund is available. I have other Sightron glass, so there's no negative bias.

Thanks again mate. I apologise for not being clearer in the original post.
