What are your .260 Rem loads?

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

Still testing but h4350 at 43.5 seems to be promising, with 139 gr lapua. It chronoed 2830 from a 22.5" barrel and had .5 inch vertical at 300 yrds. You should work your way up to that load it may be to hot in your rifle.

good luck

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

40.0 gr RL-15/ BRII primer/ 123 Lapua. Start lower with the powder, my barrel is a little long in the tooth and needs more powder than it used to. But is still stupid accurate.

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

h4350 is good powder for the 260, but beware that it varies in performance quite a bit lot to lot. Don't use others grain loads as much indication, work your way up. Anything much above 2800 fps over a 140 grain bullet starts showing signs of pressure for me, regardless of the grain amount. fps is a better indicator. I couldn't load as many grains as the hodgdon website shows even though I'm getting more fps.

I'm now on a new 8 lb jug lot and I had to up my grains by .5gr or so to get the fps I had with the previous lot.

YMMV

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

I'm shooting 142 SMK's over 45 grns of H4831SC in win cases. I have my gun throated to touch rifling and still feed from mag with this setup. So my capacity might be different form others. It is plenty accurate for me and seems to be at about 2830FPS I think by my conditions and dope. I believe in finding your own load and not going off of others but that is mine. Hope it helps

2800 fps

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

I just got into the .260 business, but so far I've had my best luck with 123 Scenars and H4350 in Winchester cases necked up from .243 brass.
130 hunting VLD's are looking good with H4350 so far too.
All loads so far have been with plain old CCI LR primers.

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

Lapua .243 brass necked up, donut removed. 139 scenar or 140 Berger VLD's, Wolf LRM primer and H4350. Redding type "S" comp dies.

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

41 Grains 4350 139 Scenar, Rem Brass, CCI BR2. gives around 2800 fps in my 26"

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

Remington 260 Brass
CCI BR2
Lapua 139 Scenars
47grains of H4831sc

And a good Bartlein 1:8.5 26"barrel with give you around 2820FPS.

This load is what works in my rifle, you need to work up a load that works well in your rifle.

Re: What are your .260 Rem loads?

140 amax over 46gn rl 22 rem brass 210 m. Work up carefully scary accurate 1770 fps didn't bother to try the more conventional loads as it shot so well
