Ok I have extra broughton 6mm barrel that I need to build into something either on a remington 700 or ar15. It is a 1-14 twist, .908" at muzzle and is only 21.5" long and I would have to take off about an inch to rethread it for a Remington 700. I have a 6mm br already but was thinking about the 6mm/223 or the 6mm ppc. I was really looking at the 6mm/223 because I have lots of 223 brass and it might make a good ar15 barrel at about 21". So what do you think? Would it make something better than one of these?

Re: What to build with a 6mm barrel

the 6mmx223 is a great round for the AR , launches 55gr pills faster than the 223 can and will do it from a shorter barrel , its very effecient little round.
Necking up your brass is a simple 1 step deal with the right die.

If you have a good accurate 6mm bolt action then I'd realy look into the 6x223

otherwise the 6mm BR is a great round to

Yes I have the 6mm BR in a remington 700 that is a tack driver so I really think I should build it for my AR. I have redding S die so I think i could just get the larger bushing and should work out great. I bought the die so I could use it for the 20 practical and this might work out good since I could use it for the 223, 20 practical, and the 6x223! So far I think this looks like a good choice anyone else have any input?

Re: What to build with a 6mm barrel

I have a 14.5" AR built around one (soldered brake makes 16") and Im love it , I think the military should look at this round rather than the 6.8SPC as the only mod to the current weapon is a new barrel.

I've used it to shoot coyotes out to 300yds with the 55gr Ballistic tips with awsome results

Maybe 6mm-250? Standard .473" boltface should be a plus. Tames the .22-250's case capacity to something less abusive of throats the either the .22-250 or the .243, and should still perform pretty neato. Neck up .22-250 by 1/2mm or so, should be a simpler wildcat wiith readily available multiple-source brass. Even with the slower twist, it should be dynamite for anything out to as much as 600yd. Might even be OK for deer.

6/204RR I am not very fimilar with this round, but have a buddy that built one on a Rem 700 and took it hunting rock chuck. I think he runs 70gr pills.
I could be wrong, but think there is some advantage over 6/223, but I have no clue what it is.
