What to look for in a progressive press?

Over the weekend, I loaded up close to 1K of handgun ammo for the .45acp and 9mm. I'm done with a single stage press and manual case prep. With 3 shooters in the family... Let's just say my supply is way down already!

Been hearing good things about the Dillon 550's... Is this a good way to go or should I look elsewhere? I like good equipment but would rather not have to pull a second on the house to afford a new set up.

What says the Hide?

550b is a great press, BUT IMHO more handguns have been double charged resulting blown up handgun, the lack of auto indexing is its down fall, so look for a press with auto indexing, the Hornady LnL has it, so does the 650xl

You will get highest volume with an auto-indexing press such as the LNL or 650, and adding both casefeeder and bullet feeder .

Having said that, even the 550 will generate multiples of what you are producing now on the single stage.
