I know this is prolly open ended, but is there such thing as "the best money can buy" as far as powders and bullets are concerned? Im fixing to reload my 257wby mag. As you all know the weatherby calibers are not cheap to shoot.

If i cant avoid trial and error so be it. But if i can get a jump start on the learning curve id enjoy the latter better.

I understand there will be some trial and error, but i dont want to waste tons of money on non-WBY worthy components.

Get a reloading manual and read it, that's probably the best, least conjecture filled response that you'll likely get.

You haven't provided anywhere near enough information for someone to give you appropriate feedback.

ok, I wanna shoot northern deer with 100 grain bullets out to say 500 yards. and god be willing i wanna keep it shooting 3in groups.

So it will be.

You want to shoot deer at 500 yards with a 100 gr..25cal hunting bullet and get about half MOA? That's gonna take a LOT of experimenting! Good luck.

Re: Whats the best bullet/powder combo?

I'd try Nosler Accubond 110 grain with h4350 powder. Go to hodgdon.com and look at their loading data. midwayusa.com has the bullets. Put "257 Accubond" in the search box and see the bullet data etc.

Re: Whats the best bullet/powder combo?

Got a buddy that used to shoot 257 Weatherby and he was running 115 grain VLDs over Reloader 22 and later moved to H1000. I don't know the charge weight but I know these combinations worked exceedingly well for him.
