Bright Star '97. The TOC had just jumped to somewhere in literal BFE and we were on the perimeter giving some lost Egyptian soldiers directions.

Unknown to us a F-18 was diving at us. We didn't hear it until it hit the afterburner over us and simultaneously dropped a flare over our position. Scared the absolute shit out of us. The Egyptians screamed like girls and went into the fetal position in their Jeep. The rest of us dived under our M1026. It was pretty funny.

About 33 years ago I was deer hunting in Central Wyoming. I was sitting on a ridge about 1/4 mile away from and 500 ft above a ranch house. I was all fudded up in my blaze orange and looking away from the house and the flat terrain to my six. I can't explain it, but I felt like I was being watched. I turned my head in time to * I swear!* see into the cockpit of an approaching F-111. I came as close to crapping myself as I have since I was an infant.

He threw it hard into a left bank as he passed and the wings swept out as he hit the burners. It was the loudest noise I had ever heard in my 15 years. I imagine he was 30 to 50 ft above me as he passed, but when I first saw him I thought he he would have skewered me with his pitot tube.

I can remember it with utter clarity, 3.3 decades later. I bet he is still laughing.

The best fly buy I ever saw was back in 91. Desert Storm was over and 3 B-52's flew low in formation westward from Frankfort Ny, to Grifiss AFB about 10 miles away to land.

It wasn't the lowest Ive seen, but with out a doubt the best, because we knew the boys were home!!

One of the memoriable ones was an F-106 ripping though a mountain valley maybe 100ft AGL in the Serria Nevadas as I was comming off Kersarge Pass in the early 70's

An F-111 in the desert of Southern Idaho-again VERY low coming out of the sunrise with wings swept one early morning.

An F-8 Crusader going supersonic at Pt. Magu NAS was also very cool.


Oh wait.....then there was the time I was in a C-172at the end of the active runway next in line for take off and Blue Angel #5 was given permission to take off ahead of me. I looked around-what???? I don't see an F-18. As I looked back forward I saw him coming down the runway at me.....and rotate to a vertical climb with afterburners screaming he was gone in seconds into the cloud cover. I pushed the throttle all the way to the fire wall climbed out at a less than inspirational 700 feet per min.

I love airplane noise!

We have a jumper at the DZ who's father races a Hawker Sea Fury. He does low pass fly by's occasionally. Usually gets the attention of the entire DZ for a second!

Neither a jet nor a prop plane. I'm sure many of you remember watching this game. Game three of the 2001 world series. Yankees vs. Dbacks. First game back at Yankee stadium. I believe this is the most emotional night in sports history in America. I don't know of one person who didn't tear up while watching these pre-game ceremonies.

George bush firing a strike from the rubber with a bulletproof vest on.

The crowd chanting "u.s.a.-u.s.a.-u.s.a."

Easily the best fly-by I've ever seen.
