Which collapsible stock for shooting prone?

Have a 16" full rail upper with compact 10x optic and will be using to shoot 100-600yds. I prefer a collapsible stock for various usages. I'm starting to shoot more prone at longer ranges and the old Colt CAR stock just doesn't work well. I'm 6'4" and want something long enough for prone and able to get my underhand on the buttstock ala' A5 butthook when shooting my bolts. What would you recommend? I was thinking ACS or EMOD..

Thanks,
Hawk

not too be off topic but have you thought about the Magpul UBR? cheekweld doesn't move and collapsible at the same time. A bit on the pricy side though.

Re: Which collapsible stock for shooting prone?

I recently got a magpul acs and now I am thinking of swapping 2 other rifles over to the acs. Very comfortable cheek weld and solid lockup. Also has the protected latch making shooting off a rear bag and hooking your hand possible.

Of the EMOD and the ACS...I would vote for the ACS for the reasons listed above. However, while I own both and use both, I wouldn't call either of them optimal for prone shooting!

While I realize there is a difference in price, the Magpul UBR is superior in most all respects. You get a solid, consistent cheek weld throughout the range of adjustment thanks to the fixed top portion of the stock. Additionally, the while the ACS locks up tight, the UBR feels sturdier to me than the ACS and lends itself to working very well when prone (on both shorter barreled as well as longer barreled rifles). I run a UBR with the extended rubber buttpad on it (gives it better grip and an addt'l 0.60" of LOP) and for a collapsible/adjustable stock...it is near perfect IMO.

it maybe a little pricey, but its complete....it comes with the correct buffer tube and all...you just get the stock with everything else..
