Looking to sell some barrels and stocks from my days at the Remington custom shop and Dakota Arms.

Barrels are all contoured blanks other than the AR barrel.

Prince called, he wants his rifle back…

So I finally took the wife to the range, and showed her the 10ish guns I have built this year. She took it better than I would have thought. In fact, as we’re driving home from the range, she said, “Can we build me a rifle?”

Completely shocked, of course I said yes. I already had most of the parts in the cabinet. I told her she would have to pick out and order her own optic though, and that we would have to go to the store where I pick up most of the parts I forget to order so she could pick out what stock, grip, etc. she likes.

The kicker is, she wanted it purple. Immediately I thought of Aero’s anodized “purple” (which let’s be honest it’s fuchsia bordering on hot pink), and was already cringing. But she hated that as much as I did, so I went to O’Reilly’s, and bought a can of Chrysler Plum Crazy Purple engine paint. For my first rattle can job, it turned out better than I could have imagined.

But it’s a .223 Wylde (solely because I didn’t have one - I wish I had done 6 ARC or 6.5 Grendel now), 16” Faxon barrel, Aero stripped upper, Anderson stripped lower, Aero handguard, Geissele parts kits, Aero adjustable gas block and tube, Radian BCG and charging handle, Triggger Tech 3lb single stage trigger, full ambi controls (she’s right handed but shoots left eye dominant, I figured better safe than sorry), Geissele double spring and tube, H2 weight, Magpul’s MOE grip and Magpul’s version of the SOPMOD (I forget what it’s called). She had shot all my rifles, so she experienced my Strike Eagles, ACOG, Eotech 512 with G45 magnifier, etc., and chose the Arken Optic LPVO, the same optic I put on my 8.6BLk build. It shoots great. Even more so considering I had her do most of the build and only jumped in on stuff she had trouble with.

Picture below - please be gentle… In full disclosure, I wish I had painted the buffer tube and the dust cover as well, then get rid of the Lancer magwell, but she likes it as is.

Is there a sticky thread for "Deaths of Pets or Pet Memorials"?

I had to send my little rescue dog Koki over the camo bridge yesterday- he was 13.5 yrs old and 12 lbs of pure loyalty and joy. Because he was about 8.5 years old when we got him, I didn't change his name, just the spelling from the native Puerto Rican "Coqui". He was suffering from liver failure- too much rum before we rescued him? Don't know.

I'm gonna miss the little guy... To anyone who ever lost a pet- the best way to cope is to stomp a leftist?

To all the pets ever passed- an endless supply of treats and clean water!

This is Koki at about 8.5 YO, on Independence Day 2019:

Remember the golfer that got arrested entering the club for the final round because the cops couldn't direct traffic?

I wonder how many others are out there that he got away with doing this to. I guess his story is going to be that it was an asset forfeiture and he forgot to do the paperwork and turn in the money.

Elr rifle chassis or stock

What are you guys mainly using for elr matches like nightforce steel challenge krg elr light class ect....

I'm using a krg whiskey 3 gen 6 chassis but I'm trying to build another rifle and looking at other chassis and stocks. I like my chassis no issues but looking at something else

I've looked at
matrix pro 2
Xlr Envy pro c6
Manners t4a stock
F.A.S.T chassis
Mcmillian

I've just looked at them online no place for me to really go try or in person type of thing. But just looking at what others are running. Also of you guys have experience with those chassis or anything similar.

Should I re-tool my suppressor mount system? If so, what should I go with?

I now have a decent amount of cans and almost all are on the YHM phantom mount set up. They lock up well and if you know how to adjust the bottom spring loaded part on the brake they all lock up fully with zero movement, so not an issue there as some have had complaints about....

That said, at this point, I won't be swapping them around much. The plan is to not swap at all, so I'm trying to decide if I want to:

1 . Direct thread all or most(only concern here is carbon build up and getting them off for cleaning, my crown , ect)

2. Switch to a new mount and brake set up. (Pretty much gonna cost me $1.5-2k

3. Direct thread most AND switch mounts on some others where it makes sense.

4. Just get a few more phantom hub mounts and call it a day.

It looks like the Q stuff or Reardon with cherry bomb brake is ideal as I always shoot suppressed. I'm not concerned about having a good brake other than what it could do for me when the suppressor is on it.(ie take the abuse, help suppressor, ect)

Thanks

movies

just mindless chatter. seems like DVDs are terminally ill, like CDs. people are streaming, whatever that entails. actually buying DVDs is cheaper if you can find what you like. at the few pawn shops that still have them,$1 or less. same with flea markets. went to a sorta lg.market last weekend and there were easily 100K strung all over. mostly junk that nobody ever saw. but volume for sure. interestingly in both markets i have been in lately, there has been 1 guy that organizes by letter, subject, title. 1 of those guys knew an unbelievable amount about the format, movies and history of same. found a few been looking for x 2yr.
do you think they might "come back" in 10-20 years like vinyl, which is hot in some places around?

Keeping Suppressors Cool

I went to the range to try do a comparison between a recently received PTR Vent 2 and DA Mojave, but instead, I got caught up figuring out which host I liked more: a DIY CMMG radial delayed upper and a MEAN Arms upper. (Turns out, at least this trip, the CMMG...)

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else has a small fan in their range bag? Ive found this one does a great job of cooling off a hot, just-used suppressor and so I don't have to wait as long to pack up.

SOLD Price Drop- Remington 700 Mountain Rifle .243

Bought this new back in the 90's. Probably has 50 rounds down it, and half of those dropped whitetail out in Tennessee cornfields. I replaced the original wood stock with a synthetic that has a recoil pad at some point. Comes with a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40, Leupold base and rings . I only rifle hunt elk nowadays so this guy will sit in the safe until I die if I don't sell it.

Target shows the last time I shot it (with core-loct's so old they had a $4.79 price tag on the box). I think the low shot was a fouling round. I think the 1 inch group on the black target to the right was with an old box of hornady frontier (I was plinking with some old half-boxes of ammo I found cleaning out my grandpa's house). It just shoots fine with whatever you put through it.

$850 to your FFL or $700 for the rifle only.

New Rifle from LaRue - the MRGG-S 6.5 Creedmoor

I'm a big fan of Mark's rifles. I'm not a big fan of Mark. He's blocked me on every platform he's been on at least once.

My Large Frame Larues (OBRs and PredatOBRs) shoot stupid well. My PredatOBR is the last gas gun I'd sell. If this new MRGG is anything like the rest of my LaRues, it'll be an amazing rifle.

With that said . . . . I noticed some "spin". They say that the MRGG rifle was ". . . . submitted for use by SOCOM." Yeah. . . ok. But to my knowledge it wasn't picked up by them, so associating it with SOCOM seems a little . . . misleading.

This looks to incorporate the same type of torque wrench that was included with the siete instead of just a "manual" wrench that has come with the PredatOBRs.

In today's world, $4750 isn't a terrible price, but it's still a lot of cash for a rifle.

I think I'd be tempted to put an FDE A2 on it.

It also looks like Mark Fingar didn't do the photos. I'd bet about $50 that mark took all but the first one with his phone.

Shooting my AR the other day and my saker decided it no longer needed to have a sleeve on the baffle stack. No end cap strike, no loose mount, no baffle strike it just decided to tshirt cannon launch that bitch into a tree 30 yards in front of me. Figured I would share. So far the Silencerco warranty response has taken over a week and I still don’t have a shipping label after them trying to make me pay to ship it for their manufacturing issue. I have multiple cans from different companies and won’t be buying another silencerco (my most recent form 4 approval took 3 days so even the ATF is moving faster then silencerco)
