Cartel Land Laundromat ?, hey 'just asking'

If not paying attention to Mexico lately ? , I know I haven't, as I sick of the Cartel bullshit, Fentanyl murder here, and kidnapping extortion of friend of mine. I will never go back again. But I used to really like the Puerto Villarta area, and even got married at sunset on the beach there once. Years back that whole area was pretty sweet.

I just talked with someone today who just got back yesterday, and just a few miles N. of PO.Villarta, is Puerta Nuevo. The big buzz in PO.Nueva and Villarta is currently under construction, and the way my brain is wired I can't help think this is the Cartels own artistic interpretation of .. 'Disney Land'.
I mean you Got to invest-$$$ to Wash that money-$$$. So this ( just my opinion ) is the new Cartel Land for tourist and Mex.Laundromat .

VidantaWorld
website also claims future booking of Cirque du Soleil as part of the multi theme park .

Red dot at 100 yrds

I had put together a cheap truck gun last week that I wouldn't lose too much sleep over if it turned up missing for whatever reason, PSA 11.5 upper in 5.56 ,so it's a pistol , already had a lower pistol in 300blkout so just robbed that lower for now . So went to the range yesterday to test it for function , no problems , probably 60rds down range , used a Vortex spark red dot , New out of the box ,zeroed no adjustment at 25yrds ,that never happens for me , so we back up to 100 yds and I can't believe how hard it is to focus on the red site- in target , but squeeze off 5 rounds and had to walk down range to ck target because I forgot my spotting scope ,damn 6 inch group 4 inch high and 3 inch right , now I can see why Crooks missed his kill shot , all those other bodies behind Trump would have been a big problem for him to focus on Trump , I ended up sticking a black shoot n see 6 inch target on the red site in target and adjusted the optic and was able to shrink the group to 3 inch at 100 after some practice , of course this is with a 11 .5 inch pistol and not a quality barrel , but it does have a jewel trigger. I doubt I would ever need to engage anyone at 100yrds with the gun , if I'm that far away I'll just get away but it's nice to know you can if you have to .

DEI Disgrace: Toronto’s First Black Female Police Superintendent Demoted After Cheating to Get Black Officers Promoted

stacy-clarke-1200x630.jpg

During a police act tribunal decision on Wednesday, Toronto Police Service’s first black female superintendent was handed a two-year demotion after she admitted to helping black cops get promotions by cheating.
Last year, Clarke pleaded guilty to seven counts of professional misconduct after she admitted to playing a primary role in the 2021 scandal, where she leaked confidential exam questions to six black officers so that they could be awarded promotions that she believes they wouldn’t otherwise be capable of earning, due to, you guessed it, ‘racism’.
“I felt at the time that (the six officers) did not have a fair chance in this process and my own history and experience of racial inequity compounded this feeling,” Clarke wrote in a police report, referring to the cheating as “a desperate effort to level the playing field.”
The former president of the Jamaican Canadian Association, Audrey Campbell, made comments in support of Clarke, likening the corrupt officer to a “freedom fighter”.
“You can talk about fairness of systems. You can talk about the rules. No substantive change has ever been accomplished by following the rules that the system made…” “One man’s criminal is another man’s freedom fighter,” she said, minimizing the severity of Clarke’s corrupt actions.
Tribunal adjudicator Robin McElary-Downer ultimately gave Clarke a slap on the wrist by ruling that she only be demoted for two-years and have to reapply for her position as superintendent while simultaneously stating that Clarke showed a lack of honesty and integrity – values that are essential to the role she once held.
“Honesty and integrity are non-negotiable character traits of a police officer. Superintendent Clarke’s actions demonstrated both were absent.” She said
When speaking to reporters outside the Toronto Police Headquarters, Clarke stated that she was disappointed with the ruling and will be taking time to figure out what she will do next.
Stacy Clarke just now, leaving Toronto police headquarters, saying she is disappointed with the two-year demotion and requirement that she reapply for the rank of superintendent. Says she’s taking some time to consider next steps. No official word yet on appeal. pic.twitter.com/ezbQQZ5LE4
— Wendy Gillis (@wendygillis) August 28, 2024
Clarke has 30 days to appeal the ruling.
This scandal highlights a glaring issue in the current age of DEI and Affirmative Action initiatives. When positions are filled not on the basis of merit but on identity politics, we risk a generation of leadership that does not possess the qualifications or capability to foster trust in our institutions.
Just remember, DEI = Didn’t Earn It

Those who benefit from such schemes are often the most threatened by genuine competence, exposing a profound flaw in the very foundations of these programs. This kind of behavior only serves to further erode society under the guise of ‘diversity’.

FANTASY RUN and GUN JACK OF ALL TRADES APOCALYPSE RIFLE OPTICS!!!

As the title says 🤣

I got bored and stripped one of my rifles down…

It’s 3.1kg (6.8lbs) empty with no clipazine inserted, and uses a pretty accurate 20” pencil barrel.

It’s more in line with the original M16.

I imagine that participating in an 800m 3 - Gun match would give me more insight…

…but truth be told, I’m just too old, fat, slow, and blind.

What optic combo stereotype’s popular nowadays for this kind of setup?

1. RDS with newer 6x magnifier (said to be a bear to use, no idea on parallax)
2. Trijicon TA-11 ACOG with RDS (fixed parallax)
3. Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x28mm (nice, bright, with relaxed eyebox - can probably do without a RDS, but heavy and parallax is fixed)
4. SWFA 3-15x42mm or Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42mm (said to be the Gold Standard in its class) with RDS

I know this has all been asked before 🤣

Small Powder Charge Dangerous?

I have a friend who wants me to load up reduced charge 223 so it will be quiet. So I loaded some CFE223 at 17gr and 14gr and some Titegroup at 3.6gr. I did not run the chrono for the two CFE223 loads and the Titegroup load was 1030FPS with a 62gr bullet. He reports that none of these loads are quiet and I have yet to get the make of suppressor from him.

My reason for this post is somewhere I think I remember that too little powder can cause problems. He now wants to try 11 gr CFE223 and I think I am not going to oblige him on that depending on what I hear here.

Yes I mentioned Blackout and he is not interested.

Rifle Scopes Optic to replace Bushnell XRS3

I’m looking for an optic to replace my Bushnell XRS3. The more time I spend behind it the more I think my eyes just don’t really agree with it, it’s hard to get the focus right and things just never appear really crisp. It also seems to suffer horribly with mirage. I’m currently looking at the Burris XTR pro (or XTR 3 as I understand they’re pretty comparable with some upgrades for comp specific use in the pro,) the zeiss S3 6-36 (I’ve heard it’s notably better than the 4.5-25?), and the atacr 5-25. I’d like to avoid the razor G3 because of the weight on this particular rifle. It’ll be going on a 308 that sees some positional shooting but not my main comp rifle. Most of my time is spent behind a ZCO 527 and an atacr 4-16. I also own an atacr 5-25 but it’s on my hunting rifle and doesn’t get shot as much. Things that matter to me (other than the obvious like accurate tracking etc):

- Generous eye box
- Mirage performance
- Finer reticles
- Forgiving parallax

I’m afraid my experience with the Bushnell might be skewed by the ZCO and atacr and it’s just not realistic to expect that performance in a less expensive scope, but I also know that manufacturers will at times save in certain areas to boost others, whereas the ZCO is the total package etc. for example, I don’t care too much about turret “feel”. I also understand I’ve posted scopes at pretty different price points but I’ve heard such good things about the XTR III that I couldn’t leave it out. But I don’t have any experience behind them either.

Budget is around $2k but like anyone I don’t like spending more than I have to. I know that sounds low for the atacr and the zeiss but I’m a big proponent of buying used optics and they come up in that price point semi regularly.

National Public Data Breach - Over 2 Billion Records

https://www.google.com/search?q=national+public+data+breach

Documents from a lawsuit revealed that more than 2.9 billion records may have been compromised because of a hack of the Florida-based national Public Data network. In a statement posted to their website, the company confirmed there was a breach and that it's cooperating with authorities.

R.I.P. Bill Calfee

He passed away 8/11/2024

I came across his articles in Precision Shooting magazine in the 90's. He introduced rimfire barrel tuners there in 1994.
@tonykharper has posted a series of reminiscence threads on forum.accurateshooter.com, hopefully he will cross post them here or I will link them with his say so.

Know there is some bad blood between these forums, and tuners are a controversial topic for many. But there is no denying the impact Bill Calfee and tuners had on the Rimfire Benchrest world.

PLASTIC RELOADING TRAYS WITH DRAIN HOLES

IMG_3286.jpeg

I absolutely love these things.

They’re really just cheap plastic cartridge trays for pistol rounds, and they come in two sizes.

You can buy them in bulk online, or save them from being discarded with the ammunition boxes they came with.

1. They’re plastic
2. They’re light
3. They’re waterproof
4. There are holes at the bottom
5. They’re perfect for .380 ACP, 9mm, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .45 ACP, .223 Remington, .308 Winchester.
6. .40 S&W and 10mm Auto tend to get stuck in the holes once in a while, because of near - identical diameters, but no biggie.

I get to use them for:

1. Drying brass subjected to wet cleaning - ultrasonic or stainless pin tumbling
2. Cleaning entire cases or PRIMER POCKETS ONLY in the ultrasonic cleaner should I choose to do so
3. So many other things

NOW…

I need something of this sort for .300 Winchester Magnum / .300 Norma Magnum /. 338 Lapua Magnum.

Talk about fat - bottomed girls! They won’t fit!

Emphasis on plastic, and holes at the bottom.

I couldn’t find any such thing online!

Any suggestions?

Hornady or RCBS micrometer bullet seating tool?

Does anyone have experience with either of these die sets (Hornady or RCBS), utilizing the micrometer bullet seating tool? I bought the Hornady set, though after opening it, I'm a little surprised that it doesn't look all that extravagant for the price. The RCBS feels like it has a bit better construction to it. I am considering returning it for the RCBS, but I initially hesitated on more RCBS products after we broke a couple RCBS dies for the .338 Lapua recently.

The Hornady ends up requiring the purchase of their full length die set (I think you can get either the Custom Grade or Match Grade), and then unscrewing the top of the bullet seating tool - and screwing on the new micrometer end. Either way, they seem to be about the same price in the end.

I just wondered if anyone has any impressions of each they could share.
Thanks!

SOLD XM3 Full Clone Build Kit

I spent a couple of years collecting parts for an XM3 build, but I've shifted priorities to other projects. I have everything, and even some duplicate parts. The receiver serial number is exactly in the range of the originals, and it was barreled by Hart - they profiled and chambered the barrel also, to XM3 specs. The receiver needs to be clip-slotted, the bolt knob installed, and the trigger tuned. I'll take $4,500 firm, shipped and insured, for everything in the list below. No trades. Not willing to break up the kit unless it doesn't sell whole. I have the recipe for the original Man-O-War finish for the buyer.

Also for sale is a Surefire FA762SS suppressor, BNIB and unfired, but not until the kit sells and then the buyer of the kit has first refusal: $5,500 firm. If the kit doesn't sell whole, I'll post separately.

Big post ... hope I got this all right ...

Carbon Barrel cracked??

I have a Bartlein CF barrel chambered in 300 W.M.
Sent it to be put in a cryogenic chamber to relieve any existing stress in barrel, upon unboxing I found the carbon cracked completely through in 2 separate spots.
Also sent a Proof barrel chambered with same reamer to have the same process done and it looks the same as it did when I sent it off.
How big of an issue/problem is this and has anyone experienced the same before?
Thanks in advance.
