Jane Fonda making death plans. Is that anti-aircraft gun in Viet Nam still available?

Hollywood movie icon and political activist Jane Fonda has picked her specific burial plans and location as she maps out out her final days. Mother of three Fonda admitted that she has taken time to consider how she wants to end her days with a desire to be "at peace" with her family. Fonda has turned to therapy, aged 87, to help work through how to be in a great place with her kids.

Fonda has decided to be wrapped in a sheet and buried in a field area in a cemetery alongside her second husband, author and activist Tom Hayden, in Santa Monica, California. The environmentalist will not be cremated over the smoke damage.
Hayden, whom she married in 1973, was officially laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in 2016. The Barbarella star wants to take her final breath surrounded by her closest friends and family.

Fonda confirmed: "I know where I'm going to be buried. I've worked it all out. Cremation is bad because it puts chemicals into the atmosphere. The idea of being buried in a wooden box is anathema to me. I'm going to be wrapped in a sheet and put in a hole next to my second husband, who is buried in Santa Monica in a place which is like a native field with native grasses and no headstones, and it's drought-resistant.

"And I don't want the kids to have to go to different places to commune with us. And I believe we can commune with the dead.' Fonda reflected on how death is a topic on her mind. "I think about my death a lot, and I think that that's very healthy. That thinking about death gives meaning to life, you know? At 60, I thought a lot about 'okay this is my last act. This is it.' First 30 years, second 30 years, my last 30 years."

"What do I want to get out of it? I want to end it with no regrets, or at least as few regrets as possible. Okay, that means, because if you visualise your death, None of us know how we're going to die, but it's good to have an idea."
"I want to be in my bed in my home surrounded by people who love me. That means I'm going to have to be sure that people love me. I have to earn some love between now and then during my third act. And my dad never spoke when he was dying. I want to be able to talk and give, you know, impart some thoughts and wisdom. I've thought about all that."

Barrel Swapping from Bergra to R700?

Might be a stupid question, but I’m going to ask it anyway. Currently for “precision” work I’m shooting a B14 HMR. Thing shoots extremely well. Also have a 700 ADL that was the first gun I bought when I turned 18, shot a bunch of deer with the thing, but accuracy is fairly mediocre.

I just crossed the 2000 round mark in the B14, and if it’s possible, I’m half tempted to pull the barrel off it and put it on the 700 and put a new barrel on the B14. Both .308 now, and that’s what I’ll stick with for now.

Accessories WTS- Grayops bag stop, crow works trimmers, BravoPrecision Stock

These all have seen little use. The dasher trimmer, trimmed 1 round. The stock, used in 1 match. The bag stops have seen some use, just don’t need them anymore.

Little Crow Works trimmers for .223, 6 Dasher, and 6.5 Creed. $50 each shipped.

Grayops arca bag stop regular and a shorty. Both Sold

B5 precision adjustable stock. $120 shipped.

Venmo preferred.

7 Saum has me scratching my head…

Expected a little better velocities, groups, and deviations than this… Really don’t know where to go with powder, I do have Ramshot Grand that I might try despite having zero load data to go on…

ADG Brass, new, neck sized, mic’d for neck wall thickness, length checked, etc.

Tikka built as a long action, 22” 1-7.5tw barrel, 180gr ELD-M, H1000 powder, CCI LMR, 3.117” OAL, 0.050” jump.

I saw no pressure signs on any of these loads despite loading 0.6gr over the max Sierra recommends. None were even close to a compression load, I may try a few loads with more powder.

I think LibsOfTikTok figured out the deafening silence

In the recent stabbing of a Ukrainian "refugee" on the bus, the deafening media silence: https://pjmedia.com/athena-thorne/2...led-the-democrats-in-2026-and-beyond-n4943417

I think the Penny situation is the perfect analog, as presented by LibsOfTikTok: Login to view embedded media
Not a peep, because the intense outrage they had over Penny precludes them completely; they can't mention it, because it perfectly illustrates what Penny may have indeed prevented that day he was on that subway car and his actions were indeed the correct move.

New wood for the L1A1

So after several years of 'meaning to get around to it' finally put some cool new wood on the L1A1 SLR. The nasty plastic stock just didn't cut it!

Great shout out to Confluence Wood/Kalashnicarver Customs which did the wood kit. Not only is it gorgeous but the 'fitting' was little more than shaving one tiny bit of wood away from the gas tube. so that the forend would line up. Their customer service is also fantastic! Great communications... even after hours and on weekends! Their backlog means that orders can take a while (I ordered this set in March-ish. And they told me it would be about 6 months. It was actually less than that, it just took some time for me to get around to putting it together! We also had a couple of bits for a Metric Pattern, but sorted it out super fast and they swapped out the stock in a matter of days! Absolutely great company!!

Recreating The Dire Wolf - Why?

It looks like some scientists have brought back the Dire Wolf. This is a long article about a once extinct species but why?

That darn thing is almost as tall as an full grown man! I suppose if it's ever released back into the wild, it will make the timber-wolves piss and whine like a runt puppy.

I'm not a wildlife biologist but if that thing is released it will soon takeover the plains and forests like a plague. When, and if, it's no longer a protected species there will be a new variant to varmint hunting.

Will FoxPro keep up with an ever expanding library of electronic calls for the Dire Wolf? Time will tell.

After you have read the article, you've probably figured out that these pups aren't really Dire Wolves but they are pretty darn big. But why breed them? I can't think of a good reason.

Okay, so it isn't really a Dire wolf but why make the darn thing? Frankenstein and Jurassic Park didn't turn out so well. Also releasing pythons in the Everglades hasn't been a great thing as well.

This guy is sort of geek but makes some excellent points that are tough to argue against.

Massive runout on factory Berger 230 gr Hybrid OTM Tactical bullets

I'm waiting for my Accuracy International AXSR in 300 Norma Mag to arrive and bought five boxes of Berger 230 gr Hybrid OTM Tactical bullets to try out my rifle and for the Lapua brass. While looking at Micron dies from Bullet Central I was debating between their bushing vs arbor seating die and decided to check the runout on the factory Berger ammo.

I only randomly tested bullets from three boxes and the runout on a small sample set was .004 to .011 runout, so bad on some you didn't need a concentricity gauge to see the runout.

Thermal clip-on for 4x ACOG: VooDoo-M, N-Vision Halo-C, Excelitas Dragon C12-XR, or something else?

As the title says, I'm researching the best thermal for use in conjunction with a 4x32 ACOG. I've pestered @jstokes1 with these questions in the past, where I learned quite a bit. That said, I still don't have the technical know-how to really understand what all the different performance specs mean. Happy to receive any information the Hide wants to share.

My use-case is mounted on a 5.56 SBR (or training-appropriate equivalent) equipped with the aforementioned day optic, used for spotting two legged critters in force-on-force situations. As such, I'll need to make PID on them (or at least what they're carrying) within 100 yards or so. Clear identification of said critters should be easy within 300 yards.

My previous front-runner was the VooDoo-M, which should provide great clarity at the expense of a big honkin price tag. Wondering how you guys think the N-Vision Halo-C will measure up; the LRF and ballistic calculator are well in excess of my requirements though. I was also thinking about the Excelitas Dragon C12-XR, but it seems that @DownRangeThermal wasn't able to get those imported. Not sure where the NocPix Mate series clip-ons land in this lineup, or if they're a different class entirely.

Gunsmithing Anyone here do EDM hole cutting on barrels?

Looking for someone who can EDM cut about 12 - 16 holes in a rifle barrel. They will go all the way around the barrel and are a pressure relief/diversion. Holes will be about .1875" in diameter and round. Need to do 2 barrels. I can post or send a print if needed. But here is roughly what I am looking for.

1757252504814.png

1757252543804.png

^^^ These holes are a bit large, but are on a prototype c. 1940's. Above is the print and the holes are about 3/16th. .1875 ish. Not too critical... so large tolerance on these.

If anyone can do this or has a good source... let me know!

My backup plan is to cut most of the way through with a drill and then do the 'breakout' cut with a mill. But that still risks having some burrs in the rifling.

Cheers,

Sirhr
