Info needed, .300 savage and 250-3000

Hey guys, for starters, I know these aren't sniper rifles, but I'm not sure what other group to search in. I've been searching high and low and can't find much on these rifles. The antique side of things isn't really in my ball park. I inherited several old guns that I really don't have space for and will never do anything with. I'd rather them go to someone who may want them or want to refurbish them. Any info of what they may be worth would be appreciated.

-First is an old .300 savage with a Redfield 2x-7x scope on it. Decent shape, definitely got shot.

-Second is a 250-3000 savage with an unknown to me scope, it's definitely old and used.

Again, any info offered on these is appreciated.

Chea...err...affordable 1-6?

Hey all,
I'm looking at a LPVO for my Ruger American Ranch in 5.56. I have a Burris RT-6 on my RAR in 7.62x39 and it's great. Anyway, PA has their GLx 1-6 on sale for $399. The problem is, I find the reticles on the GLx to be "busy". That being said, I haven't heard any negatives about the new Gen IV SLx 1-6 and the Nova reticle. So, is the older GLx model with the "busy" reticle (both the Raptor and Griffin) THAT much of a better scope, that it would still be a slam-dunk to buy at $399, or has the new gen of SLx kind of "caught up"? Or, just get another RT-6?

Marlin 1895 Cowboy 45-70

Casually looking for a 1895CB to go with a 336CB I have and have really enjoyed. I found one made by Remington for a decent price, but not being local to it I can’t put my hands on it to see how the fit and finish is compared to my JM Marlins. Anyone here own one or have you ever handled one?

I also found a Marlin LTD IV, but it looks like it’s not been a safe queen from the blurry pictures, which still might be ok if I can get better pictures as long as the bore is good. I doubt anyone has put enough rounds down one to wear out the barrel even if they were competition shooting with it.

I have found several 1895 38-55 CB’s that look nice, but I already have 45-70 loading stuff as I have a 1895G and don’t really need another round to load for unless I can come up with a compelling reason to select a 38-55 over a 45-70, which I haven’t so far. Anyone have experience with the 38-55?

SOLD Henderson Trimmer w/ 3 cutting heads

Hello, selling my shooting stuff as I have a major career change coming and need cash.

Used for less than 300 rounds, non-motorized (used a battery power drill from Amazon); comes with 223, 243, and 264 cutting heads and the Inline Fab mount.

$575 shipped in the US.

Zelle or USPS MO only; The first “I’ll take it” wins.

Thanks for looking.

UrbanRifleman 6BR Savage Small Shank Nut Barrel Testing

I got a 26" 1-8 Savage Small Shank Nut Prefit straight barrel from https://theurbanriflemanstore.com/ALL-PREFIT-BARRELS-FOR-BOLT-GUNS

Ive been hearing people talk about them and saw good results so I decided to reach out to Brad and get a test going. I was really interested in what kind of performance can be had out of a $289.00 (+$100 for muzzle threads) ready to go nut barrel for a savage small shank or ReMage, Tikka, etc...

The barrels are made using a Wilson blank. This is my first Wilson bolt gun barrel but Ive owned, tested and shot a lot of Wilson barrels in AR's for years and they were very accurate.

Test setup was as follows

Bighorn/Zermatt TL3
Bighorn/Zermatt 12 Point Barrel Nut
XLR Envy Pro JV Comp Chassis
BnA TacSport Pro 2 Stage
Razor Gen3
SEB Neo Rest
LabRadar

26" 6BR Urbanrifleman 1-8 Straight

I loaded up some mini OCW around my known 30gr Varget loads shot in my other 6BR barrels with 105 Hybrids and 105 Scenar-L's. I was amazed how well this barrel shot, especially for $289.00!! One other thing I noticed, this barrel is FAST. I mean VERY FAST. Looking at data on my last 4 28" 6BR Bartlein and Kriegers... I was at 30gr Varget getting 2850 from my 28" Bartlein with 105 Scenar's 2 weeks ago... Where Im getting 2852 with 29.6gr Varget (SAME 8LB just of Varget) out of the 26" Wilson..... So 2" shorter, and 0.4gr less powder, same velocity with same bullet, brass, primer and Lot of powder Crazy.. Also, with the 105 Hybrid in the 28" Bartlein, Im at 2844... In this 26" Wilson with 30.0r powder Im at 2860..... so 15 fps faster and 2" shorter barrel......

Anyone looking for a prefit nut barrel for their Origin, TL3, Remington, Kelbly, Tikka, Terminous, Curtis, etc.... your gonna be hard pressed to find something that shoots this good for anywhere close to what these barrels cost.

I havent even done a seating depth test yet and we have groups in the 0.1's and 0.2's. Looking forward to testing these loads out further.

Your Favorite Custom Rifle Builder That No One Knows

I was telling my buddy (gun guy, but not a custom bolt gun / LR kind of gun guy) about long range shooting today and our conversation shifted over to rifle builders. Out of that comes my question, who is your favorite rifle builder that no one has ever heard of before? I'm thinking the guy that lives under a rock, out in the boonies, or just has no real presence out in the (digital) world, but can build a rifle like he needs it to breath?

Interesting thought: What am I? Am I the bulb that carries the light? Or am I the light of which the bulb is a vehicle?

The problem in middle life, when the body has reached its climax of power and begins to decline, is to identify yourself, not with the body, which is falling away, but with the consciousness of which it is a vehicle. This is something I learned from myths. What am I? Am I the bulb that carries the light? Or am I the light of which the bulb is a vehicle?
One of the psychological problems in growing old is the fear of death. People resist the door of death. But this body is a vehicle of consciousness, and if you can identify with the consciousness, you can watch this body go like an old car. There goes the fender, there goes the tire, one thing after another— but it’s predictable. And then, gradually, the whole thing drops off, and consciousness, rejoins consciousness. It is no longer in this particular environment. ~Joseph Campbell

Ace barrels

So I’m pricing out a barrel for a potential ELR build. Some thing 2500 yards and in. A lot of places that I’m looking at for a blank are out of stock right now. So I’m looking for a .284 31 inch blank with a 1.250 contour, and 1:7.5 twist for a 7prc throated for 190 hybrids and 197 smk

One of the few places that said, they would be able to get me a blank, and a decent time frame was ace barrels. Now I know vudoo gun works uses them for 22 LR barrels and I know they are cut rifle but I don’t know much about them other than that. Has anybody had any good experience getting a barrel rifled buy them?
