For those of you that run suppressed gas guns, have you had a tuned load for your rifle perform horribly once you mounted a can? I did load workup in 2020 for my .308 shooting a 155 scenar at 2726fps out of a 16” bbl, and it held pretty much 1 moa at 100. I had it doped out to 700, due to scope constraints I couldn’t do much past 800.
August 2020 I had a concussion and didn’t shoot for 2 years. During that time I got my tax stamp and a better scope, finally went out to the range this weekend to sight in and my load is shooting closer to 4 moa now with the can installed. I put 3 boxes through the gun, got frustrated and went home. I’m suspecting that I’m either really rusty from my hiatus or the can is causing issues.

My plan for the next trip is to dry fire a ton, and shoot for groups without the can mounted to rule out operator error, and then confirm with the can mounted.

Do you guys have any other suggestions before I end up scrapping this load and going back to the drawing board?

I am reloading and shooting some 1960s or 70s Norma 357 brass today. I got this from the estate of a man I never met, but I bought his entire reloading setup several years ago. His last load written in his book was from 1967.

Opened up my new "MADE IN USA" die set, tried one out, seemed way more difficult than any die I ever used, tried more cutting fluid, still hard. Took a closer look and well....it's going back. Below is a photo of a die I did not yet use.

Rifle is super smooth, rail was machined to have just a tiny gap with an AEM5 installed. The WOA easily drives sub MOA with decent ammunition and has printed some 3-hole clover groups. I am willing to sell the AEM5 since I won’t have anything else with this pattern barrel anymore, but would need to do some research or be educated by someone on it. I have an M600DF package, some 3- and 5- slot MLOK sections for accessories, and a few MLOK rail panels by Mechforce and Slate Black Industries that can be worked in.

Any interest in torque wrench reviews/testing that would be specific for firearms? Chassis was bedded around a terminus apollo but I ran my Curtis axiom in it as well, several times. Both fit perfectly. It won’t fit a zeus or valor (recoil lug would be too thick). The bedding did improve group size and has much more contact with the action and tang.

Hey gang. Running into something very curious.

Scenario:

Indoor, about 80º F, no wind
MkII FVSR Suppressed, 4.5-27x Athlon Eres BTR Gen 2, Boyd's Varmint Stock
CCI SV 1070fps 40gr
Bipod & Rear Bag

Situation:

I can consistently hit sub-moa groups at up to 80 yards indoor. However, once i get the target to 100y (i haven't tried 81-99 yards)

Below are pics of 75 yards x 10 shots and 100 yards x 5 shots (because more shots wouldn't change anything for proof of concept).

Any Idea what the issue is here? Is it ammo? Are there some recommendations you would make for better choices? Not necessarily looking for one right answer, but more of a discussion on the ballistics (of course recommendations are helpful too!).

It looks like the rounds are opening up widely at 100 yards vs 75 yards.

EDIT: Thanks to all the good info here. I'm now seeing a lot of threads showing my exact scenario. My conclusion is that CCI SV just won't perform to what I think it should at 100 yards. It appears I would need a HV load (or better match load SV) for > 100y, and SV for < 100 y.
