Incipient Case Head Separation?

I would like to preface this question by saying I am brand new to reloading and I am erroring on the side of caution.

I have just finished de-capping and cleaning my brass. I noticed faint, but distinct, lines on my brass as shown in the picture below. All ~500 cases I have processed seem to have this line. I am concerned that this incipient case head separation that I have read about in my reloading manual.

This seems unlikely however since this is only once fired brass from a stock rifle. Is this incipient case head separation or am I just being paranoid? If it isn’t separation, what could it be for my knowledge. Here is some additional information to help answer the question.
- Caliber: 6.5 Creedmoor
- Once fired Lapua Brass from factory Berger ammunition (140gr Target Hybrid)
- Fired from a bone stock RPR.
- Only ran through a decapping die. I am not really seeing how the decapping die could make these marks.

Hunting rifle for dad?

Hello all,

While my dad did not ask for a new rifle, I always love finding excuses to buy or build another one lol. Anyhow, he's been shooting 270 for a while and for the type of hunting that we do, it's just too much.

Today he shot the big deer that he's had on trail cam at his lease and missed really bad. The deer was probably inside 60 yards and the brush shrub that my dad hit and killed was probably 2 feet to the right of the deer. He's developed a flinch and jerks the trigger when he pulls. For that, I have made up the perfect excuse to buy/build a low recoiling hunting rifle. I also plan to add him to my trust and lend him my suppressor for him to take with and hunt on days I don't use it.

We hunt in south Texas from a stationary position. The deer here are never 200 pounds, even the biggest of them.

While every now and then opportunity presents itself on a deer at longer ranges, my dad simply doesn't take those shots. And to be honest, most hunting here is within 250 yards.

When he carries any of my rifles, he complains they're too heavy. I've never weighed them but I would guesstimate they're all in the 14 to 18 pound range. His 270 is a winchester 70 in a black synthetic stock with a pencil thick barrel.

To sum it up, I want something low recouping and short so I can add the suppressor to it. He builds his hunting blinds and since it's just him in there, he makes them 4' ×4'. This means no super long barrels. Deer are small here and shooting distance is not that far so no need for anything with so much energy.

I was thinking 18" 22CM or 6BRA. Definitely open to other suggestions. This is where you guys come in. I have tons of 6.5 brass and tons of primers and powder on hand but I don't reload. I don't have a press nor dies. So I would prefer to find factory ammo or custom ammo. Maybe soon in the future I'll start reloading but not sure yet as to when.

Does anybody wanna recommend anything? I'm all ears. I really want him to be able to feel confident and I think a softer shooting rifle will be much more pleasant to shoot.

**edit**

I must add, I would prefer something somewhat budget friendly. Probably no custom actions. Maybe Tikka t3 22-250 with 8 twist and ream it out to 22cm. Or some other factory action with a prefit.

Firearms M107a1 20”

Don’t shoot this enough to justify keeping it. Will take 11,500 shipped. 7rounds down the pipe. Comes with 13 rounds of pmc 660 grain ball.

Suppressors TBAC Ultra 9 endcap strike

Already contacted TBAC and will be sending it in this week. Only thing I can think happened was a weld failure. I’ve had it since 2016 on multiple guns, 6 Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 and .223. Not sure on round count but should be in the neighborhood of 1000 rounds. Had it on my 16” AR today just to check zero and check dope at distance. This gun is used for coyote hunting only. Never shot more than 5-10 rounds in a row at any one time. Never more than 5 with the AR, no mag dumps and no fast strings through it. The load I was using today was 24.3grs IMR 4064, 60gr Vmax’s, CCI SRP and Winchester brass. Velocity is 2667fps. Shot 5 getting my zero. Then switched to my 22 to sight it in and get my DSF out to 400 to get it ready for this season’s matches. Before I left the range I had 4 rounds of my .223 left and shot targets at 200,250,300 and 350 yards. Not sure on which shot it failed. All shots hit the steel targets and it wasn’t till I was putting it in the gun rack at the range that I noticed it.
This is a Ultra 9 30 cal.

D465_5318_img.jpg

This is what happens when guys who have been making ultralight ultraquiet rifle suppressors for over a decade turn their attention to 9mm:

A pistol can that’s only 7 inches and 7.9 ounces, but meters with the best 9mm cans on the market, all of which are larger and heavier.

Then you can remove the module and run it in “short” mode, which is tiny — 4.4″ long and 5.5 ounces. Put that on a Glock 43X and you have a suppressed pistol package that is actually compact and still very quiet with 165gr HUSH.

Oh, and it’s rated for 300 Blackout subsonic (min bbl 5.5″) and 300 Blackout full-power (min bbl 8″).

Did I mention 350 Legend? It’s rated for that too.

It’ll eat a combat load from your 9mm subgun for breakfast and ask for more.

Boycott Glock for wanting to mandate the Jab

Glock reportedly loved coke and strippers for marketing and sales purposes, but also wants to mandate the Jab for employees. Eff Glock!

Boycotts don't cover what you already own- just future purchases of new Glocks.

Scope Companies: More Of This (But Longer, With More Exemplified Use)

For those of us who aren't professional shooters with a trust fund allowing us to have endless shooting experience with a wide variety of scopes and their reticles, videos like this make it possible to understand reticles and their use case in practical application.

Scope manufacturers: why doesn't your website or YouTube channel have this for every reticle?

I just wish the above video was a little longer and had a few more examples at various distances and target sizes, but at least I got to see the reticle in action and that does far more than just looking at it on the website or reading some "reviewer" talk about the subtensions. At first I didn't like the PR2-MIL because it was more line-oriented vs. dot oriented. But seeing this video, I much prefer the lines over my current dot-oriented tree scope.

The design of this Leupold PR2-MIL reticle is to be precise but not as cluttered as their CCH and the Horus varieties. Okay... you can say that, but why don't you show me? Show me the CCH. Show me the PR2-MIL. Show them to me in the [simulated] application(s) they were intended for.

The production cost of doing this isn't high. You have the scope cam. These companies have access to long distance ranges. Run a simulated PRS stage or two. Run a simulated hunting scenario (for hunting scopes with snazzball reticles). Show using the lines and dots and triangles with purpose and benefit. Don't just... provide a PDF! And if you aren't going to do it, if you're going to give scopes to YouTube reviewers, only give them to those with a scope cam and a commitment to run it in the application that scope/reticle was designed for... not some 100 yard range to shoot "bugholes every time" while twisting the turrets back and forth to "test tracking".

THere is stupid then there is ???

This woman was talking to several different people, on social media, about killing her husband. One of them turned her over to the cops, who spoke to her about it, and she kept on trying. I dont think Ive encountered such blatant stupidity before.

Arizona College Students Mull a Second Hunger Strike to Push 'Voting Rights' Bill

A student at Arizona State told Fox News in an interview that her organization, Un-PAC, is considering the extreme form of protest if the bill does not get passed by Jan. 17.
“We’re prepared to hold out indefinitely now that the holidays are over,” junior Leila Winbury told the outlet.
She said the last strike took a physical toll on the students, but they view democracy to be in such grave condition that they’re willing to do it again.
The last hunger strike, in December, lasted for 15 days and took place in both Phoenix and Washington."

HILARIOUS!!!

Firearms that convert gas pressure into stored mechanical energy?

Was wondering if any oddball firearms exist that uses gas pressure to store mechanical energy to the cycle the round at some future point base on input from the user.

Example: Fire round, strong spring is cocked backwards using gas, user presses small button, spring releases energy causing a mechanism to extract casing and load new round into chamber.

Daydreaming about having a rifle that doesn't cycle the action unless the trigger is released after firing.

Tested covid positive, Hydroxychloroquine advise

Just tested covid positive last night after a very rapid onset of high fever and dropping o2 sat. I happen to have a good supply of Hydroxychloroquine that was prescribed for a previous unrelated condition. Can anybody post a reliable source / link for use of HCQ? I know I have seen it here before but can't seem to find where it is buried.
Standard internet searches have not been helpful. Thanks for any info
