STRANGE BARREL QUESTION

I have a rather weird question about the barrel of one of my bolt guns. This is an honest .5 to .6 inch rifle starting out. If I load up 100 rounds for a Saturday afternoon at the range, my rifle starts off shooting super tight. By the end of the day its shooting about 1.25 inch groups. Once I clean it, we are right back to .5 to .6 inch groups. What I don't understand is why it looses precision so quickly. My goal is to get through a range day with the nut behind the trigger being the only problem. I'm considering trying Tubbs Final finish but I'm not sure that is the right tool for the job. I know ahead of time that final finish won't work miracles. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

East Tennessee spots?

Hey gents,

I just moved to Kingsport, TN and im looking for a place to shoot. Best i can find around here is 300ish yards aside from competition only ranges. Even been pouring over maps/using drone/dirtbike to try to find spots and so far no joy. Any leads on good places to go in east tennessee/ SWVA area? 500-1000yds, private property that someone wants to share (i have cool shit to play with) or just a spot someone knows like a sandpit or something with no houses around would be great.

Thanks

The Slik PRO CF-734 is a full-size tripod extending to 65 inches and folds down to a compact 18.7 inches. Though lightweight, 3.0 lbs, the CF-734 handles up to 11 lbs. This makes it a great hiking and backpacking tripod to match with advanced enthusiast and professional camera bodies and/or heavy lenses in the field.

All 700 series carbon fiber tripods have legs made up of carbon fiber material that is actually comprised of 8 layers of inter-woven carbon strands that are then bonded together in a sealed, high-pressure furnace producing strong, light weight carbon fiber. The legs also feature A.R.S (Anti-Rotational System) is designed into the leg locks and do not allow the individual legs sections to rotate inside each other. Each leg also has an independent lock that sets in one 3 angles to vary the height and stance of the tripod. The three setting are for maximum height, waist level or low angle photography close to the ground.

The four leg sections are secured and loosened with twist locks. Because the legs are non-rotating, you can unlock all of a leg’s stages at once by twisting the three large rubber grips with one hand. This enables fast setup.

The SVH-520 Fluid Video Head is lightweight and ergonomic weighing only 1.2lbs. Supporting up to 8.8lbs of gear this head is made for video creators, but does not exclude still photographers looking to use it as well. The built-in counter balance spring creates an appropriate repulsive force, enabling precise tilt action. Then combine the tilt action with a smooth left to right pan, it makes it hard to miss with this head. The angled pan handle can be positioned for left or right-hand control and rotated a full 360-degrees so the handle's angle is in the best position for any situation. The handle can also be removed to save space.
Not to be excluded, the smooth pan and tilt movements make this head great for those using spotting scopes and binoculars.
The head uses the SLIK quick release system for easy mounting and removal from your camera. The QR plate uses a folding wing-nut to rotate the standard 1/4-20 thread post onto the camera so no tool is need to attach or detach from your camera.
Straight out of the box you will have options for 3/8-16 or 1/4-20 mounting points to screw onto your tripod. The 1/4-20 option will require a simple screw in adapter.

The Benro Binocular Adapter - The base plate is designed to be quick release plate style, which can be mounted directly on the quick release (QR) clamp of tripod. There are ¼”-20 & 3/8”-16 threads on the base of the bracket for attaching to non-camera heads and adapters. In addition there are two ¼”-20 threaded holes on the stem of the bracket which can be used to store protective caps from your binoculars.

Accidentally bought a new rifle...now I need glass.

Howdy,

I realize there's a bunch of threads on here about what glass to get, but given that people's price range and intended uses are different, the suggestions differ considerably. So here goes...

A couple of days ago I was meeting a guy to buy an old Remington 700 mountain gun. He was running late, so I dropped into Scheel's to look for a cheek piece for one of my Tikka's. While in there, I stroll over to the Tikka island and mixed in with all of the new Tikka rifles was a T3x Tact A1. At first glance, I thought it was new and didn't bother looking at the price tag because I knew it was out of my price range. Eventually I worked my way over to it and picked it up. It was a 24" .308 model...then when I flipped the price tag over and saw that it was used, with two CTR mags ( I happen to have 3 other CTR mags, so I have 5 now). Price after military discount...$1329 + tax. Admittedly, I would have done back flips if it had been in 6.5 Creed, but I still thought it was a pretty smoking deal given the near perfect condition. Needless to say, the credit card came out and I snagged it up along with another SilencerCo mount and bipod.

Its been a minute since I've done any significant long range shooting and back then it was either a M24 with Leupold fixed 10X and briefly a Mk13 with Nightforce 3.5-15x. I currently have two "precision" guns...one is a M40 ish thing in .308 that wears an old US Optics 1.8-10 MR-10 TPAL. The other is a LMT MWS in 6.5 Creed that wears a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50.

So now I have this new stick and there's a mess of new optics and reticles available and names I've never heard of along with prices for optics that have become astronomical. My plan is to temporarily move my Nightforce over to the Tikka just to make sure it shoots and isn't a dog before I drop money on glass. If it shoots, I'll then look for something to put on top. If it doesn't...I may get it rebarreled in 6.5, but now I'm nearly back to the price of a new one.

My use is really paper and steel. I don't really hunt and my days of military competition have long since passed. I haven't explored the PRS game but I'm interested to learn more. My budget is about +/-$1,500. I'm fine buying used/demo provided the scope is in like new condition. I've been eyeing the PX and there's certainly some good deals, but I just don't know what the "go to" is these days for my use and price point. Given that I'm shooting .308, I think something up to the 20x magnification should be plenty but I'm open to suggestions.

Usps at its finest

Wife ordered some stuff for Christmas and USPS said it was delivered. It wasn't. Several days go by and numerous calls to the office then finally they confirmed it was dropped off to the wrong house and that they sent the delivery person to try to retrieve it. Last night come home to an opened box on the porch.

Whoever got the package opened it, tore the product packaging to shreds, then decided they didn't want it and we got it back. Postal is acting like this is completely fine. Not sure if anything was taken out of our package or not.

SOLD ZCO 5-27 MPCT1 with Spuhr 6001 Mount

Recently acquired this scope from a buddy who bought it new last year. I really want to like it but prefer my tangents. Tracks great from what I could tell today in the match and wasn’t missing due to the scope lol

This is a 15mil locking turret model. Does have some hardened adhesive from the coband wrap my buddy had on it stuck on the scope but it’s black and blends in well for better or for worse.

Asking 3600 shipped with the spuhr mount. Have the box for the spuhr and the box for the ZCO. Will include additional pics when I get home and get the dust off the scope. Includes the neoprene cover as well, no caps. Rifle is not included obviously.

Would trade for a Tangent 5-25 with any reticle that’s not the gen2xr.
