Sidearms & Scatterguns Gun shop score, I think…

This little feller followed me home today and I’m almost sure this Ruger has genuine ivory grips. I was wondering if any of you know more than I do and could confirm.

I have a Colt with genuine elephant ivory and they have some of the same characteristics but I’m not sure to be honest.

NOS GAP rifle i forgot I had.

Purchased a GAP 6mm Creedmoor some years ago for PRS, etc. Shortly after I went through a divorce, moved into a new house, etc.
Lots of stuff got put into boxes, etc. and out of sight out of mind.

I recently was going through stuff and rediscovered the rifle.

I have no plans to shoot it and am wondering if GAP rifles are still popular.

Plan on selling it but just wondering if they are still popular?

Thanks

XXX for Kamala: Porn Industry Launches Ads Supporting Harris Campaign

The porn industry has entered the 2024 presidential campaign with a $100,000 ad campaign targeting what it claims are proposals to ban pornography. The “Hands Off My Porn” campaign will run in seven swing states with the hopes of convincing young men to vote for Kamala Harris.

The New York Times reports that the porn industry has brought its sleaze to the 2024 presidential race. Seventeen pornographic film actors announced on Monday that they have launched a $100,000 ad campaign to warn voters about the potential consequences of Project 2025, a conservative policy blueprint that has become a focal point for some Democratic campaigns. The ads, which will run on porn sites in seven crucial swing states — Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada — specifically claim that conservatives want a ban on pornography and the potential imprisonment of those involved in producing adult content.

The “hands off my porn” campaign strategists have carefully considered their target audience and the current polling data. While Vice President Kamala Harris is trailing former President Donald Trump among male voters, the campaign organizers believe that younger men, who are the biggest consumers of porn, could be persuaded to support the Democratic ticket. According to the Survey Center on American Life, 44 percent of men aged 18-29 and 57 percent of men aged 30-49 had watched pornography within the past month, making this demographic a significant potential voting bloc.

Holly Randall, a veteran porn starlet, explains, “I have been in this industry for over 25 years and have witnessed many attacks on our industry, but Project 2025’s ban on pornography is the most extreme proposal I have ever seen, and voters have to take that threat seriously,” Randall stated in the group’s announcement. “We cannot simply rely on precedent that consuming pornography is legal and has been legal for a long time.”

This was written in 1968.

I'm always amazed when I read stuff like this from way back when.

"I would like to introduce here an entirely new argument in what has now become a stylized debate: the wilderness should be preserved for political reasons. We may need it someday not only as a refuge from excessive industrialism but also as a refuge from authoritarian government, from political oppression. Grand Canyon, Big Bend, Yellowstone and the High Sierras may be required to function as bases for guerrilla warfare against tyranny. What reason have we Americans to think that our own society will necessarily escape the world-wide drift toward the totalitarian organization of men and institutions?

This may seem, at the moment, like a fantastic thesis. Yet history demonstrates that personal liberty is a rare and precious thing, that all societies tend toward the absolute until attack from without or collapse from within breaks up the social machine and makes freedom and innovation again possible. Technology adds a new dimension to the process by providing modern despots with instruments far more efficient than any available to their classical counterparts. Surely it is no accident that the most thorough of tyrannies appeared in Europe's most thoroughly scientific and industrialized nation. If we allow our own country to become as densely populated, overdeveloped and technically unified as modern Germany we may face a similar fate.

The value of wilderness, on the other hand, as a base for resistance to centralized domination is demonstrated by recent history. In Budapest and Santo Domingo, for example, popular revolts were easily and quickly crushed because an urbanized environment gives the advantage to the power with the technological equip ment. But in Cuba, Algeria and Vietnam the revolutionaries, operating in mountain, desert and jungle hinterlands with the active or tacit support of a thinly dispersed population, have been able to overcome or at least fight to a draw official establishment forces equipped with all of the terrible weapons of twentieth century militarism. Rural insurrections can then be suppressed only by bombing and burning villages and countryside so thoroughly that the mass of the population is forced to take refuge in cities, where the people are then policed and if necessary starved into submission. The city, which should be the symbol and center of civilization, can also be made to function as a concentration camp. This is one of the significant discoveries of contemporary political science.

How does this theory apply to the present and future of the famous United States of North America? Suppose we were planning to impose a dictatorial regime upon the American people- the following preparations would be essential:

1. Concentrate the populace in megalopolitan masses so that they can be kept under close surveillance and where, in case of trouble, they can be bombed, burned, gassed or machine-gunned with a minimum of expense and waste.

2. Mechanize agriculture to the highest degree of refinement, thus forcing most of the scattered farm and ranching population into the cities. Such a policy is desirable because farmers, woodsmen, cowboys, Indians, fishermen and other relatively self- sufficient types are difficult to manage unless displaced from their natural environment.

3. Restrict the possession of firearms to the police and the regular military organizations.

4. Encourage or at least fail to discourage population growth. Large masses of people are more easily manipulated and dominated than scattered individuals.

5. Continue military conscription. Nothing excels military training for creating in young men an attitude of prompt, cheerful obedience to officially constituted authority.

6. Divert attention from deep conflicts within the society by engaging in foreign wars; make support of these wars a test of loyalty, thereby exposing and isolating potential opposition to the new order.

7. Overlay the nation with a finely reticulated network of communications, airlines and interstate autobahns.

8. Raze the wilderness. Dam the rivers, flood the canyons, drain the swamps, log the forests, strip-mine the hills, bulldoze the mountains, irrigate the deserts and improve the national parks into national parking lots."

anybody else do this? (case lube and primer pocket cleaning novel ideas)

First, I got my second die set from WTC (first was 50 BMG, now 375 CT) and this thread is not about the dies per se, but rather about WTC recs to NOT use water soluble lubes (most of them including RCBS) because they can cause rust inside the die. They recommend STP oil additive +/- dilution with 20% 30 weight motor oil (because STP is so thick). I've been using this and it works great but this is the first time in my 30+ years reloading that I came across this suggestion. Would 90 weight gearbox oil work too? Because I have leftover of that from my motorcycle maintenance days.

Next, for (occasional) primer pocket cleaning, I used to use the RCBS wire thingies, but a while back I just started using a PP uniformer set at factory specs. It doesn't engage the brass of the PP, but it does clean the carbon down to a uniform depth very nicely, and I don't worry about it gouging the sides or going too deep.

Maybe I'm late to the party on one or both of these things. Opinions and experiences invited.

Riflespeed or Superlative for running suppressed?

Recently picked up an OCL Polonium and am a fan, aside from all the salty hot lead in my face. Currently have been using it on a 16" barrel with a mid length gas system and a .750 low-profile gas block. In general I should be able to use a can on it for most of the ranges and what I go to, but I imagine there might some times I'll run it without the can on it. The Riflespeed AGB looks cooler and I like the idea of the adjustability without a tool. If I've read correctly on some other posts here aside form the AGB I'd likely need a straight gas tube as well, which they sell. The other option would be a Superlative AGB, which a few friends have recommended, though there's a lot of hand guard for the accompanying tool to go down past (and I half assume it'll get lost at some point.)

Anything else I should have in mind in choosing between the two of them, or is there any other option I should check out?

New Zealand’s Lesbian Navy Captain Loses $100M Naval Ship in Peacetime Disaster – Ship Runs Aground, Catches Fire, and Sinks, Unleashing Oil Spill.

gzl9pmwwsaawrxh.jpeg
New Zealand Navy ship caught fire and sank in the Pacific Ocean
New Zealand’s navy has suffered its first peacetime ship loss since World War II when the $100 million multi-role support vessel HMNZS Manawanui ran aground off the southern coast of Upolu Island, Samoa, caught fire and eventually sank—triggering an environmental disaster in the process.
With all 75 passengers and crew evacuated, the vessel’s loss brings fresh scrutiny to the leadership under its openly lesbian commanding officer, Commander Yvonne Gray.
The Manawanui, originally built in Norway and repurposed for New Zealand’s Royal Navy with a substantial $103 million investment, was conducting a seabed survey mission when it hit a reef, according to maritime news outlet gCaptain.

Another consequence of DEI hiring initiatives?

Onboard were not only sailors but also civilian scientists and foreign personnel.
During a high-stakes nighttime evacuation, the crew was forced to abandon ship under perilous conditions, with life rafts tossed in violent seas and some occupants scrambling to reach shore through rough waters.
Three crew members required medical attention, with one for a dislocated shoulder and another for a back injury.
