223 Rem and other 224 Cal Variations

Hi All,
I started to load and shoot .223 Remington groups for accuracy. My build is a Zermatt TL3 action with a 26" Shilen select match barrel mounted on an MDT ACC Premier Chassis. My barrel twist is 1:9, I want to order another barrel with a 1:8 twist to use with heavier bullets.
Looking through the choices, I see all these other options in .224 Caliber:
  • 224 Valkyrie
  • 22 ARC
  • 223 Rem
  • 223 Rem Match
  • 223 Wylde
  • 223 A.I.
  • 22-250
  • 22-250 A.I.
  • 22 Creedmoor
  • 220 Swift
  • I want to shoot groups for accuracy from 100 to 600 yards. What is my best chambering for .224 bullets, should I simply stay with 223 Remington or also consider other chamberings? I would love to find a comparison article that analyses the options available today.
  • Please give me any input I should consider before moving forward. Thanks

Real inflation - it's a lot higher than you might think!

I did some research on this, before I found this video, and this lines up exactly with 40% of our M2 money supply being pumped into the economy, mostly thanks to Kamala's tie-breaking vote.

By the end of 2020, M2 had increased by 25% over pre-pandemic levels. By 2021, it was nearly 40% higher. So that 40% figure matches M2 growth pretty well.

People will argue that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 2019 to mid-2023 shows a cumulative inflation rate of around 20-25%, depending on the source. But if you look at the true cost of living, it's actually just over 40%.

The really bad news is we're triple fucked: not only have prices gone up, but we're taxed based on inflation while wages remain stagnant.

And the fact that these liberal white women working for tips don’t actually care that Trump wants to make their tips tax-free— actually blows my mind: they just want abortions, which is ridiculous because it's a states' rights issue. Trump has never really taken a strong stance in the anti-abortion fight and has even declined to endorse a full ban.

And honestly, when you think about it, a billionaire playboy should be in favor of it—but I’ll never accuse liberal white women of thinking.

Sidearms & Scatterguns There can only be one.

I know what I’m going to do but might as well solicit some reactions.

Planning on putting together an ammo can of the magazines that would be the “go to”.

Trying to decide what would be the pistol.

One of these is just pure love and vanity.

One is pure love but a viable candidate for the backup to a rifle and I know I have a holster to accept it with a light.

The other two offer round count advantage both have light capability. Unsure if I have holsters to accommodate a light, pretty certain for at least one. I’m way more familiar with the sight system and presentation of one over the other.

All have an appropriate number of rounds through them and in use have been equally reliable. I trust each as equals for reliability.

Which one?

Could It Be A Slower Tikka Barrel?

It’s my understanding that Tikka barrels generally shoot slower than others. If that’s true, could that at least be a contributing factor to having to put in more elevation than what’s called for in ballistic calibration for a given factory round? I’m fully aware that mv variability can play a role as well. During my “ get acquainted “ period with my 6.5 Creed Super Varmint I’ve had to dial in some elevation over and above that called for in the calculator. Once doped correctly, though, the gun is VERY accurate at 500 yards. Just wish our range was longer.

What am i seeing in my scope?

As the title says, what am I seeing in my scope?

It's a Razor 1-6. I have never had problems with it before, and after scouring the internet, can't find any similar photos of this.

If set my magnification to 1x, on the lower left I see what appears to be an adjuster with a screw or something visible.

I double checked to make sure I'm not turning below 1x and it lines up perfectly at 1x. For me to make it disappear out of view, I have to zoom in to approximately 1.4-1.5x magnification.

I contacted Vortex and have sent it back. I use this on my work gun for our SWAT team and really hope that they will just replace the optic all together. We will see what happens. But I'm really curious as to what I'm seeing as I really don't expect Vortex to call or tell me what it is.

Opinions?

SOLD JAllen Gen 2 Stock - Rem 700 SA Pattern

For Sale: Have too many extra stocks on hand, so putting two of my nice used condition Gen 2 JAllen stocks up for sale. These awesome chassis-stocks fit REM 700 SA pattern rifles. These are not the MDT manufactured ones, but rather the original JAE manufactured ones. Both have the extra ($150) 2” extended JAE arca rail mounted. Much nicer IMHO than the short arca offered rail on the newest economy JAE Gen 5 stock made by MDT. Both stocks have captured action screws.

#1 - All original, Gen 2 JAllen stock. Black n red color combo with original red JAE nose art. Sold with 2” extended arca rail and a black MK Machine vertical grip installed (no slant grip included). This stock is mint, as new condition. (Keeping this one for now)

#2 - Custom Gen 2 JAllen stock. Stock was custom Cerakoted camo by Short Bus for an earlier owner. Very professionally done camo job. Stock sells with original gray slant grip, along with a black MK Machine vertical grip. Stock has Sawtooth/Durabilty MLock side rails mounted on each forend side. $SOLD to RobV14

Trump Transition Team Likely to Refuse Fed Assistance & Transition Funding If Victorious

I like it, especially setting up outside of DC.

For election 2024, President Trump’s transition team is now saying they are likely to go it alone and skip any federal transition assistance in advance of inauguration day. That decision is making the deepest parts of the Deep State apparatus very nervous. That decision has major ramifications and could, likely would, include the incoming Trump administration setting up offices outside Washington DC.

A Rifle Builders Tool Box

I’ve been wanting to learn to build bolt action and ar15 style rifles as a side business. While I’ve already assembled several of both styles I’m aware there’s a few tools that I need for attaching and head spacing barrels to actions and things like that. I’m not going have a lathe for a WHILE so I guess I need to choose my actions wisely on the bolt action side? If someone with experience on the ins and outs of barreling and head spacing bolt actions and ar15 upper receivers I’d much appreciate a run down on the process and tool list required for the job? I’d like to gather the tools and as much experience as I can before I dive in to an FFL and all that jazz. (Side note: Should I just get a type 1 or should I go ahead and get a type 7 in case I do some “manufacturing” on accident?)

White feather stock

I am having a rifle made. I found a stock at a retired gunsmith who is selling off this stock. He claimed it was Carlos's and was wondering if I should refinish or keep original. I don't doubt the validity of the smith.. local pastor..photos of the two of them... eastern North Carolina..ect. Just want to do right by him..

Looking to purchase my first and last suppressor

So just like the post says, looking to purchase a can. Looks like there's a bunch of manufacturers making these things these days. Would like one I can move to different rifles and probably one that mounts to a muzzle brake or flash suppressor as I'd like to be able to use the rifles without the can. I noticed that the Griffin mounts are pretty economical and would like some type of muzzle device that I can economical outfit 6 or 7 rifles with. Will be using the can with 5.56, 6mm arc, 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 creedmoor, and 308. Not too much rapid fire going on but will be going on semi autos for pig and coyote hunting along with plinking. What do you guys suggest I go with? Figure you guys are the pros and this post will save me hours of research. LOL
