Garmin Xero C1 Chrono - Ghost shots when cycling bolt (22lr)

Attaching the chrono via the Area 419 Kit to the MDT ACC Elite Chassis utilizing the Rifle Setting and 600-1700 FPS option I’m getting an “analyzing shot” that sometimes reports a reading (without an actual shot). It’s usually between 300-500 FPS range. For what it’s worth I was alone on a square range today. Taking it off the rifle alieviated the ghost shots. Anyone else experience this?

From the range history and a pic of it mounted

Login to view embedded media video of cycling the bolt without any shots or outside variables (my basement, shouldn’t be picking anything up)

Can't shoot and definitely can't run.

Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was killed while trying to stop a carjacker.

28-year-old Ricky Driggers is facing. first-degree murder, two counts of attempted common law robbery, larceny of motor vehicle, and felony fleeing to elude. Tap on video to get sound.

Accuracy International AT Rusting?

I recently purchased an Accuracy International AT rifle (serial number 23AT2****), which is supposedly made in 2023. After shooting for the first time the next day, I noticed rust had developed on the import mark portion of the receiver (see pic). I shot 20 rounds to zero in my scope recently on a rainy day (it has been raining in Northern California every weekend recently), and I wiped it down as much as I could at the range and then cased it. Several hours later, when I got home, I noticed rust spots developing.

I know rain is bad and the rust is only cosmetic, but it bothers me that a $5k rifle could behave like this. Rust is also found on the nitrocellulose certification marking and the bolt release catch (pic 2&3). Even my 80+ years old surplus military rifle is more durable than this. How could AI not consider the elements as a factor when engraving this rifle (the 2023 version, at least)?

If I remember correctly, the import marks on the AW and even earlier AT rifles were painted over with white paint or some sort of finish instead of leaving engraved bare steel letters exposed to the elements. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I’m wondering if this is covered under warranty. Many thanks!

Steen

SOLD 6.5 Creedmoor Tikka CTR in KRG Bravo/bipod/extras $1300

For sale is my 6.5 Creedmoor Tikka CTR w/ 20 in barrel, in a KRG Bravo chassis + extras for $1300. You get

Gun
Chassis
AICS KRG 10 round mag
Minimalist Spigot
Harris 6-9 inch swivel bipod
Harris to Spigot direct mount
APA Little Bastard brake

I’ve enjoyed shooting this gun out to 1000 yards. It shoots 3/4 MOA or better with Hornady Match and American Gunner. I have fired 300 rounds of Hornady factory ammo through the gun, and its performed flawlessly. Just needs optic/rings and its ready for the range.

The chassis plastic is Sako green that has been painted ODG with Aluma Hyde II. The finish is very consistent and has held up very well over the 300 rounds. I was extremely particular with my prep work. This is my third firearm sale on Snipers Hide, and I’m happy to provide references from my other buyers. I will only ship to an FFL. Buyer pays shipping from Chattanooga, TN.

Price is firm, will not part out, but I’m open to selling the firearm in the factory CTR stock. Also willing to sell the brass(300 cases) if you're interested. Happy to answer any questions!

Getting back to 308, need advice on bullet options

For the last 15 years, I've been using the 6.5mm bullets/cartridges for precision rifle competitions. I've had custom rifles built for my 6.5s, heavy 26" (M24) barrels and shooting targets out to 1200m. Since last year, I've entered events with a max distance of 700m, so I decided to build a 308 Win for this 2024 season with a Proof Research CF barrel 1:10, Sendero 20" with threaded muzzle (Tikka T3X action + MDT XRS chassis). My question for those of you still running a 308 for competitions is this: what are your suggestions for bullets? Keeping in mind that it's a 20" barrel with a 1:10 twist, maximum range I'll be shooting is 700m-800m. I am asking because I've been away from the 308 for 15 years and not up to date on what is now commonly used.

FYI: Why a Proof CF barrel? I want to take it out hunting while also using it for competition. In my 6.5 Creedmoor competition rifle, I shoot the Lapua 136gr Scenar L and absolutely love it's performance and consistency. Please don't suggest other chamberings as I am dead set on the 308 and have a barrel ordered.

Thx for your input

Suppressors ECCO Machine and AAC 762SD

I’m hoping some of you with some ECCO machine experience can help me out here. I have an AAC 762-SD with the 51T mount. It was my first rifle can and for its day it was a fine suppressor, but ever since I got my SiCo Omega it’s basically just been sitting in the safe. I recently changed barrels on my AI AE and decided to put the 762-SD on and try it out again. My results were less than stellar. Even after fitting the mount to the suppressor, my groups are noticeably larger with the cannon than without. For example, today when I went to the range I was seeing 1.11 minute groups with the can vs .78 minute groups without. To confirm this wasn’t a one off or a barrel specific issue, I also tried it on my 6.5CM AI and my groups were similarly larger after putting the can on.

My theory is that the main issue is in the mount. I just don’t think there’s any way to make the 51T mount as precise and repeatable as newer mounting systems, even after fitting. To solve this and not have to buy a new suppressor, I am considering having Ecco machine swap the factory 51T interface for the universal 1.375-24 interface. I believe* that would allow me to use an ASR mount as well as the direct thread mount that came with my Omega, which is currently gathering dust in its box. Before I commit to this though, I’d like to get some information and advice from those of who’ve already walked this path. My main questions are thus -

1: Am I correct in assuming that the most likely issue with my accuracy is the mount and not the actual suppressor itself? Have those of you who’ve gone this route with a 762-SD or similar AAC can seen appreciable increases in accuracy and precision after going to an ASR (or similar, modern QD system) or direct thread mount, or is the actual suppressor and it’s design at issue here?

2: Am I correct in assuming that my SiCo Omega direct thread adapter will work with an AAC can that’s been converted to the 1.375-24 interface?

3: since I’d like to keep this suppressor QD compatible, is the ASR mount an acceptable way to go for a precision rifle can?

4: For those of you who have done this or something similar, what were your general thoughts on the experience and results? Anyone other than Ecco worth looking at?

I’d love to hear feedback on any part of my diagnosis or my plan. I’d aLao appreciate any info on other’s experiences who have tried this or something similar in the past. I should also add; I am aware that there is an upgrade program through AAC that would basically turn this thing into a Ranger 7, however it’s much more expensive and I really, really like the tone and look of the old school AAC cans, especially on an AI rifle. I’d like to keep that style and tone if possible. Thank you all in advance!
