SOLD Early Snowy Mountain Tac Ops Rifle, 308 Win

I have a long tenure and flawless history on Rokslide, but haven’t spent much time on SH historically.

** edit to be clear. This is not a Tac-Ops rifle as made by Tactical Operations. It is in the style of some of their models of rifle based on the components. I am not trying to misrepresent anything, this is just not my area of expertise.

This is an early (2009) Snowy Mountain Rifles Tac-ops style 308 Winchester. Action is a rem 700 footprint, stock is a McMillan, comes with two, single stack metal mags. Stock is not inlet for M5 bottom metal. Barrel is 24”. Muzzle brake is removable. Rifle was stored in a humidity-controlled gun room.

Rifle was built for friend’s dad who was a Doctor by day, but volunteered for the local SWAT team. Less than 200 rounds fired.

$1,500 FFL to FFL. Open to multiple payment methods, but funds need to be in-hand prior to shipping.

Group photo is 10 rounds of factory Berger 185 jugs. Orange sticky is 1.5”.

Accuracy issue complaint

So a customer calls me and says he has a problem with his rifle and wants me to rebarrel it, so I said sure send me the rifle and I will take a look at it. Rifle arrives, took it out and shot it, sure enough it has problems but instead of selling him a barrel I will be selling him a chassis. Shot great once I put it into my foundation test stock.
I am purposely not going to mention the chassis that it was in but you can see for yourself the best deal always isn't the best deal, pay a little bit more and get a quality chassis and forgo these types of issues.

*** On edit that is not play that is flex *** action screws were tight and NOT bottoming out on barrel tenon.
also NOT an MPA product. We use, recommend and sell MPA and Foundation 99 % of the time.

Well that settles it - you can go to any house and shoot anyone , if you are member of specific gang

Did Hornady Change 147 ELD-M Bullet?

I have a Tikka CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor and my rifle really shoots the 147 grain Hornady ELD-M bullets well. I recently bought a new box of 100 bullets and I got pretty bad results with them. My rifle typically averages < 0.5 MOA for 5-shot groups with them and the new box of bullets averaged ~0.7 MOA. It was literally like shooting a different rifle.

The bullets from the new box that shoot poorly have a more translucent ballistic tip (on the right below) and are about 4/1000 of an inch shorter in the base to ogive dimension (according to my comparator) than the bullets that shot well (see below).

Has anyone else noticed this?

Feds building cross dept gun owner database

The new Palantir cross department data sharing contains all manner of concerning things, but one I don't see anyone talking about is that it will be tracking every single firearm and ammo purchase and making those records available without warrant or really any justification across federal departments.

Everyone thinks this is a good idea?

How long is too long for a bolt gun barrel and suppressor?

gonna rebarrel my (shot out) single shot (short action Rem 40-X) 7mm mag to 7PRC, loaded for 180s. Current barrel is 27.5", but it has a brake. New barrel will run a TBAC Magnus RR can. I ordered a Krieger w 28" finish length, but I'm beginning to wonder if that's going to be too long with a 10.5" can on it. Shortest I would go would be 26". Going to 28" will get me ~50fps more velocity. This will be a varmint slayer (Sendero profile, heavy), so won't have to carry it anywhere

When does barrel + can on a traditional bolt gun get so long as to be a mistake?
