Savage Precision Model 10 APO .308 to 6.5 CM

I have one of the Savage/Ashbury Precision Models in 308. Does anyone else happen to know whether it is a Savage Small Shank or Savage Large Shank? I'm trying to find a replacement barrel for it.
If you call Savage, they can likely tell you.
At one time, they had very good customer support. I don't know what it is like now.
Apparently, you can tell the difference in the length of the barrel nut.
Oddly, the large shank is shorter at around 5/8" of an an inch while the small shank is about 7/8"

Sidearms & Scatterguns Red dot or not on your "life or death" pistol?

I said " Should the dot fail for any reason"
Old friend I keep
My iron lined up so I can see through the red dot if it fails.

I also add angled shim so red dot is usually, depending on weapon, zeros to co align with irons

Basically my red dot lolly pops on top of the iron sights

Have you double-checked the torque on your barrel?

Even if it is torqued, I cannot imagine this happening unless your bolt head is the wrong size.

Something to note about pierced primers: each time it occurs, material can be added to the length of the pin, making it more likely to happen again.
I’ve never seen material added to the pin. Usually there is gas cutting/erosion, which gives the pin a bunch of sharp edges. Neither here or there though, he’s a few PSI from blowing the entire case head off, so not a pierced primer issue.

Budget 300 Blackout Build - Suppressor Suggestions

@murph1118

Man, if this is your first 300BO, once you shoot it suppressed, you're going to want to shoot it a lot more. Unless you're either made of money or load your own, ammo cost will be a factor. Cheap FMJ subs start at about .70 a round, but you can get decent supers for closer to .50 a round.

I typically load up on the AAC 110gr Saber Blades when they go on sale at .50 a round. Shooting supers suppressed is pretty fun and satisfying. About as satisfying, or moreso, as shooting an 11.5 5.56 with a good can on it. With an R9 on the end of my 8", its a little uncomfortable without earpro. With the R45, it reaches a level of not offensive to the ear.

For me, the notion of shooting only subs suppressed, was either going to leave me not getting to shoot my 300BO as much as I want or even more broke than I already am.

Getting 147gr ball ammo from a lot of places that dont charge for shipping at .50 a round is the most economical Ive found. The AAC stuff works out to more like .60 a round after shipping and tax, when they're on sale.

Don't need it.

Lots do though and they have to make them for the majority.

Just talked to my buddy that's a rep and he said should be out in a few weeks.

Yup Mike Miller won that intel battle with his being then and mine saying third quarter. Of well it’s close now and getting excited.

Well, I dunno if 200fps is a lot of gain over say 600 rounds, but it sounds like a lot to me. I don't normally have to chrono before every match with my other rifles, but I do with this one.

Base of case to ogive is very consistent with loaded rounds. Plus or minus a couple of thou. As mentioned in the OP, I checked a couple hundred unloaded bullets for ogive to base and there was only a couple thou difference across them all.

I have no way to determine if the chamber is cut correctly, but with the exception of the 8-10 rounds that popped primers, all the fired brass looks perfect.

Not sure exactly what your asking in the last line. Are you referring to the diameter at the shoulder and base?

New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I don't understand

Sizing is pretty standard in all reloading unless you are a neck sizing person.

I undersize the expander then us a mandrel to get what I want and don't ever consider neck sizing again, didn't like it.

I bought these cases and never meant to reload them. Plan was to Just pull them from the bag, prime and load directly out of the bag, fire and leave on them on the range. If they fit, there would be no need to size.

As it turns out, I need to FL size to get them to work and because I’m forced to size them anyway, I see some deficiencies with the way this die sets neck tension.
