FL Sizing Die Ruined??? Need Advice

I can definately feel the ring or ridge on the shoulder of the brass with a fingernail. And yeah ill debur case mouth after they come out of the tumbler again.
Well, then that's different. Your first post literally said "I cant actually feel it with a fingernail".
Hey guys, need your advice. So i was FL sizing some 6.5cm brass today and i noticed i was getting a little ridge or ring on the shoulder of my brass. I cant actually feel it with a fingernail, and i have never noticed this before. Decided to inspect sizing die and internally the die looks like it is “scored” or “rough” right at the shoulder. What would cause this?? If you zoom in on case you can see the “ring” or “ridge” at shoulder of case. And you can see the inside of the die as well.
I'd send it back and have it either polished or replaced by the manufacturer - even though it probably won't be an issue, just let them deal with it.

The updated Recce 5K and Gas Pocket BCG

I was thinking about it from the aspect of port pop. The BCG we are talking about moves the gas vents to the left side with the pocket on the inside of the upper. I was wondering if that would help or hurt the sound reduction aspect of the carrier.

Oh yeah it most definitely does that. The excess gas that does reach the inside of the carrier is vented down into the magwell/magazine.

People will say it will cause the subsequent rounds in the mag to become dirty and foul and cause malfunctions. Those people are right and wrong and likely don't shoot enough to have formed a valid opinion. Every suppressed firearm makes my rounds in the magazine dirty and I haven't noticed any more with GA GP BCG than normal.

I have the enhanced GA GP BCG on an 18" KAC LPR Mod 2 with OCM5. It was quiet before but without the port pop now it's really nice and quiet. I did notice that difference with that setup.

The updated Recce 5K and Gas Pocket BCG

I've heard of those but never seen one in action. Where does the excess gas get vented to?

Idk. I'm sure restricting at the key still allows the gas tube to have higher heat/pressure like normal, so the excess is probably dumped into the receiver once the key is past the end of the tube. Where as a gas block actually prevents the heat and pressure from entering the gas tube at all.

But I think adjustable gas keys are still effective at reducing overgassed rifles like adjustable gas blocks. Restricting gas at the key or block results in less gas that reaches inside the BCG and drives the carrier, they just restrict flow in different places. Like pinching a water hose near the faucet or restricting flow with a nozzle, the result is still restricted flow. Upstream vs downstream restriction I'm sure have different effects on the location and propensity of heat/pressure/fouling.

I didn't notice any accuracy or consistency difference pre-or-post adjustable gas key installation. SD's still low teens or better, accuracy still MOA or better, fowling still appeared the same but I handle that before every match by wiping everything down and apply lubrication, no sense in going down midstage for a preventable aciton.

I'm using an adjustable gas key partly because this particular barrel (Bison Fulcrum) is on my competition rifle and has a proprietary gas journal size, .825". They do sell a custom SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block but the gas key was cheaper. I've used adjustable gas keys for many years.

Rifle Scopes Is there a better deal than the GOVX discount on Vortex?

Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 EBR-7C MRAD retails at $1,499 and GOVX has them for $899. That's a 40% discount. Unfortunately, that's where it tops out. You can but lower tier versions but none of the high end stuff. I'm seriously considering getting one for my first long range platform (RPR).

Is there anything else comparable in value that I should consider? I can probably spend $1,500 but the 40% discount paired with the expectation that I'll end up buying something in the $3,000 range when I decide to upgrade systems makes this pretty enticing.

We also provide gov pricing for Vortex as well with documentation that we are required to send with each order :)

No more Covfefe?

Anyone tried the Crockett coffee that a few conservative pundits are pushing on their radio shows?

We love our Batdorf and Bronson “Dancing Goats” blend and it’s honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had, but would love to support a company more in line with my values. We do the 5# subscription and they roast the beans the day it ships if you buy 5# or more at a time.

We only do whole bean, and grind it in very small batches; only enough to do a couple day’s worth of brewing at a time. That’s really the key to a good cup of coffee…has to be a fresh grind. I can’t see how anyone can drink the stuff that comes in those K-cup things, they taste like dust and ashes to me.

Flat Coil Buffer Springs?

I had a PWS mk216 in 308, and running an omega in stock trim just wasn't happening.

it had a carbine length reciever extension so I ordered the slash xh buffer/spring combo. It helped, but it made the recoil impulse really punchy and I didn't care for it. It was still pretty hard on cases also.

After a lot of reading here and other places, I switched to the a5 length extension and an h3 buffer. Tried the stock spring, and the heavy spring from slash and I still really wasn't happy with it.

Ended up making a honking huge buffer myself, that weighed like 11oz iirc, and its was better, but still not great.

Enter the tubbs flatwire. Picked one up and it ran the best it ever had. Softer recoil impulse. Kicking brass out about 3 o'clock. Brass was relatively clean for running suppressed. Then I tossed the h3 back in just for kicks to see what would happen, and that was the setup I settled on until I sold that rifle.

I've used three of them so far. Two large frames, and and one ar15. I need to pick another one up for this LMT that replaced the PWS. Currently its running a sprinco red, brt 50/50 tube, and the stock buffer.

Why are AR15s so difficult to shoot for the average shooter?

Remember when Ted Nugent was into 44 mag then had a literal semi truck load of that factory ammo drop shipped! Plenty of people can afford to do similar and don't need sub moa groups as their standard for precision so no condemnation there.

But the only ammo I don't reload for is rimfire and airgun/pellets or slugs. Heck I even swage some of my slugs. I don't want to pay the extra money for factory ammo, and yeah I prefer higher precision reloads, plus I'm retired and have time.

My primary AR thing to do is shoot long range so high BC boat tails reign supreme and I'll diss the 1/2" vertical a flat base might offer to have less wind drift at distance. Both of those attributes can come together well enough.

OT but have any manufacturers made a substantially more robust modern clean sheet non AR semi auto yet? One that can almost rival a bolt gun??

You’d be a moron to buy this and use it

I think this idea belongs in the group of solvent traps and auto key cards (or whatever they were called).

Disregarding my opinion that any law that restricts the 2A is an infringement; I think that anyone who plays really hard to skirt the rules shouldn't be surprised when they end up in a legal battle that'll consume 100x the cost and 100% of your freedom - over simply applying for a tax stamp (where applicable).
