Chinese national couple charged with smuggling crop-killing fungus into US: ‘Potential agroterrorism weapon’

A Chinese national couple was hit with criminal charges Tuesday for allegedly smuggling a dangerous fungus into the US capable of destroying crops and poisoning humans and livestock.

Zunyong Liu, 34, was caught by US Customs and Border Protection officers attempting to smuggle Fusarium graminearum — a biological pathogen considered “a potential agroterrorism weapon” — into the US via the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last July, according to a criminal complaint filed in a federal court in the Eastern District of Michigan.

Liu initially made false statements about his visit to the US and his knowledge of the pathogen before admitting to law enforcement that he was bringing the noxious fungus to his girlfriend, 33-year-old University of Michigan lab researcher Yunqing Jian, according to authorities.

GITMO. Whether one's method is flying airliners into buildings or infecting crops with blight, terrorism is terrorism. No "light, medium, heavy" designations. If your actions have the potential to cause great harm, then you are going to be held fully accountable for them.

Ok, looks like a great movie, but the last line..."Chance would be so honored knowing such a senior officer brought him home."

Obviously written by someone who never enlisted. "Fig's last will and testament said, "Don't let a fucking zero even touch my coffin! I prefer it not it to get lost and throw a tantrum blaming others for it's ineptitude."

6.5 Creedmoor

Seeking load data with Staball 6.5 and 153.5 Bergers in Starline brass.
If you were to workup a ladder load in .5gn increments for 6.5CM what would your window be?
Start at 38.0gn and go up to ???

I just did this with a new barrel using:
H4350 and Berger 140s and got heavy bolt lift around 41.5

I will try to get speeds this time around as well.

JB’s Bore Paste & ARs

Barrel cleaning advice is more about opinions and guesswork than anything approaching science. Here are a few of my non-scientific opinions:

When starting out with a new hammer forged, chrome lined barrel (e.g., Noveske), JB Bore Paste (600 grit) is very helpful getting all that release agent out of the bore. I'm guessing it simultaneously does a good job of knocking down the high spots in the chrome on a microscopic level. Early accuracy results would indicate so. A new chrome lined barrel prepped like this also stays cleaner than one not prepped. This all indicates to me that JB Bore Paste is a good thing.

I use JB Bore Paste on chrome lined machine gun barrels. Zero issues. It's the only way that I know to get one to even approach being clean.

KG Industries KG-2 is a much milder 1200 grit, non-imbedding polish. A few drops on a couple of VFG pellets will do the same thing as the JB Bore Paste, just in a more gentle manner. This stuff is 100% safe in SS barrels, too, so long as you don't go crazy and overdo it. I've found it useful every few hundred rounds in smoothing out throat erosion and heat checking. This is not unlike the effect of a Tubb "Final Finish" bullet - just lots cheaper! Beware: If you clean the entire barrel with KG-2, it's so effective at removing all copper that you'll lose 50 FPS. It's almost like starting over with a new barrel. But, in 20 rounds, you'll be back in business.

Which Chassis and Why?

I have been shooting a Bergara for NRL 22 and want to upgrade to a Vudoo eventually but don't want to spend that much at the moment.... So I was thinking I could buy the chassis now and use it for the B14 for now, then get a Vudoo Barreled action later.

Not sure if that's the best plan, but seems logical while sitting here with my 1st drink of the night..

I would like to know what more experienced shooters think and then which chassis... I was looking at MPA and MDT but don't have any experience with either but I really want to look cool, even if I don't hit anything. :)
I absolutely love my Cadex Competition Folder. I've owned about 6-8 different chassis over the years and it's still my favorite. Even with it's one glaring downside.
I wish they had multiple different hand guard options. Mine is a Gen 1 version, so it's a proprietary mounting system, made before MLok and Arca really got popular.
Now, they do offer a newer Mlok version, but IMO, the round tube does not lend itself well to adding a flat arca plate.

In an ideal world, I'd love to see both an open top hand guard, with integrated ARCA on the bottom, Internal weight capabilities, and MLok on the bottom and sides...as well as a full tube mirage shield with mlok and integrated arca on bottom.

Had myself a "1911 Day" the past week.

1911's have come a long way in the last 40 years!

I remember being at our local IPSC matches back then and the 1911 guys couldn't make it through a match without a malfunction so I'd beat them with my super reliable Highpower, and when I got the first G22 in town, it was game over for the rest of the shooters until someone else got one. 16rounds of 40S&W and never a malfunction was too hard to compete against.

Granted, yes, most of those 1911's were tuned by their owners or box stock.

Then I had a custom 38 Super 1911 built which occasionally malfunctioned. He was supposedly a top GS in Phoenix at the time but I wasn't pleased with the gun.

2011's have been very reliable for me though especially after some mag tuning by a professional.

They must have 1911's down really well now!
