Bartlein Barrels Update

How does a tariff on import affect your prices? Are you importing the steel?
Doesn't matter if we import the steel or not.... even raw material to make the steel gets imported to some extent depending on what it is... so no matter what prices are going to be affected.

Also think of this... ingredients that go into our coolant for the lathes has iron in it as well... I'll go on a limb and say were going to get hit with that for a increase at some point in time as well. It happen during Covid.... our coolant cost jumped 30% without any heads up... was just told.. "your next order will go up 30%". All due to material costs.

Also material surcharges are not added to the base price of the material and those prices are based on current market day exchange rates. Any of the grades of material like copper for example that go into the mix of the material.... we don't know those prices till the day of shipment/we get the invoice.

Rifle Scopes March 5-42 Gen 2 PRS Edition

Thanks for that Deny. I wonder if the glass is similar to the floride Ed that Kowa uses, which is known to be among the best money can buy.

I spent a summer at atterbury before going to Iraq and that place is brutal that time of year. Mirage in an ACOG was nasty at 300m so I can only imagine at distance.

I have a new ZCO 840 getting delivered next week but it sounds like I need to snag one of these new March PRS scopes to give a spin. The mirage was horrible last weekend with a zco527
Kowa uses glass that has more floride that most rifle scopes would allow due to being more brittle but it is one the reasons the Kowa lenses in spotting scopes are so good.

No difference in glass between the two ZCO models as far as I know.

Canon & Swarovski Giveaway

We are keeping the excitement going this month and switching it up a bit. We are doing a Photo and Sport Optic Give-Away this month. Drawing will be held on July 2nd

We will be giving one lucky winner a Canon EOS R100 Mirrorless Camera with RF-S 18-45 IS STM and RF-S 55-210 2 lens kit - Experience the fun of RF mount content creation with the smallest and lightest EOS R series camera, the Canon EOS R100. Excellent still-image capabilities start with its 24.1 Megapixel APS-C size CMOS Image sensor and DIGIC 8 processor, along with Dual Pixel CMOS AF with the ability to detect human faces and focus on their eyes. The EOS R100 also can record Full HD video at up to 60 frames per second, and detailed, high-res 4K from the central area of the sensor at 24 frames per second.

FEATURES

24.1 Megapixel (APS-C) CMOS Sensor - The EOS R100 is equipped with a 24.1-million-pixel CMOS (APS-C) image sensor and DIGIC 8 Image Processor. With a significantly larger sensor size than many smartphones, this camera can capture images with natural bokeh for beautiful background blur, great color, and low noise. Images look stunning even when enlarged, with fine details reproduced with clarity.

Capture Bright Images Indoors without Flash - Taking advantage of its sensor size, the EOS R100 can take high-sensitivity and low-noise images that capture the atmosphere, even in low-light conditions. That way you can take images at fast shutter speeds to minimize capture shake and subject blur.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF and Eye Detection AF - Dual Pixel CMOS AF* provides fast, accurate autofocus that helps you get the photo you want right as the moment happens. The EOS R100 features an expansive focus area that covers up to approximately 88% horizontal and 100% vertical2 of the picture area, breaking the image up to 143 AF area zones during auto selection. With the EOS R100, you can easily capture your subject quickly with the Eye Detection AF — allowing you to shoot even when the subject is far away. Eye Detection AF can also be used when the subject's full body is in frame, to lock on the eyes from a further distance.
* Contrast-based AF is used during 4K video recording.

Continuous Shooting - Capture those can’t-miss moments with up to 6.5 shots per second continuous shooting when set to One-Shot AF. This allows you to capture those momentary changes in facial expressions that are easy-to-miss.

Creative Assist and Creative Filters - Take photos in your style with similar intuitive usability of a smartphone app with the EOS R100. Creative Assist allows you to take on the challenge of image creation while in Auto Mode by changing settings such as “background blur,” “brightness,” and “saturation” easily and in real time on the Live View screen. Creative Filters on the EOS R100 allows you to select various effects from your favorite filters just like a smartphone app during shooting or playback3, so you can easily capture impressive photos to share!

Silent Mode for Quiet Operation - Capture life’s moments without worrying about distracting them with Silent Mode on the EOS R100. Whether you are at your child’s recital, or your newborn baby is sleeping, the camera’s Silent Mode ensures you don’t startle your subject by enabling capture with virtually no shutter sound and preventing flash.

High-Definition Video - With the help of the 24.1 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor, the EOS R100 can record high-quality 4K movies at up to 24 frames per second, or Full HD movies at up to 60 frames per second. By pairing the camera with a variety of RF lenses, you can express yourself by capturing videos with blurred backgrounds, in dark settings, or using various techniques that would be challenging with smartphones.

Smooth Slow-Motion Videos - HD movies can also be recorded at a high-frame rate of approx. 120 frames per second4 — ideal for smooth, slow-motion playback of videos. Designed to capture fun, beautifully detailed videos, the EOS R100 helps ensure you don’t miss any of the unique expressions of your friends’ or family's faces.

Compact, Lightweight Body - The EOS R100 camera is the smallest and lightest camera in the EOS R series1. Although it is compact and lightweight, the camera features a grip that provides a professional feel and steady hold while shooting. Whether for travel, everyday snapshots, or long-lasting still image or video shoots, you can easily enjoy taking it anywhere.

Precise Electronic Viewfinder - The EOS R100 is equipped with a high-precision 0.39-inch OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) EVF with approx. 2.36 million dots which displays a bright image and extensive shooting information. The EVF has been designed to provide a bright, sharp, and colorful approximate 100% view of the subject at hand.

Built-in Bluetooth® Capability
Bluetooth® pairing helps you connect the camera to compatible smart devices using the free Canon Camera Connect app. This low-energy wireless connection helps preserve battery life while providing remote control of the camera. It also sends continuously updated GPS location data from your phone, letting you geotag what you've captured so you know precisely where you captured the photo.

Built-in Wi-Fi Capability - Enable wireless functions, such as remote live view, file viewing and transfer, by connecting to Wi-Fi quickly and seamlessly. Using the Canon Camera Connect app, you can also transfer files to your compatible mobile device to browse and share on social media.

Another lucky winner will receive the new Swarovski Z5+ 3.5-18x50 - BT BRW - An ideal optic for long-distance shooters, the scope comes outfitted with an 80 MOA elevation adjustment range at 1/4 MOA/click so you can dial in that extra-long shot. You can also use the BRW reticle to hold over and achieve the trajectory you need. The big 50mm objective welcomes lots of light for a good view at low-light times of day or when you're fully zoomed in at 18x. The housing is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy that's sufficiently waterproof to sit under 13 feet of water without leaking.

I've found the Vortex Razor HD 1-6 and Sig Tango 6T 1-6. Any others I've missed?

Appreciate the help!
Bud, the question you're asking has a VERY subjective answer. I tore my hair out for over a year trying to find the perfect LPVO for me. I own or have owned every LPVO worth trying from about $2500 on down.

I have two main rigs. On one I run a TA11 ACOG with a Holosun on top and on the other a Nightforce NX8. My reasons for chosing those are subjective. From an objective point of view, considering things like field of view, the view through the objective, clarity of glass and robustness of build, I've gotta say that, for the money, the Gen II 1-6 Razor is still the one to beat.

Honestly, but for being a little heavy, I think an argument can be made for the 1-6 Gen II PST. At $500-$600, it's a heck of a scope.

In the end, I chose the ACOG for its simplicity, glass quality, size and weight, not to mention that it's bullet proof. I chose the NX8 for it's robustness of build, size, weight and glass quality. I did make sacrifices going with the NX8. Smaller field of view and tighter eye box, but it does what I need and it's so small that it doesn't get in the way.

Still, everytime I pick up my Razor, or even the PST, I'm amazed at what a shooter's optic each is. I see them as no compromise optics for their respective price ranges, at the expense of size and/or weight.

I'd start with a Razor in mind and make a list of those things you don't like about it, then find something that doesn't have those offending attributes and then decide what compromises you're willing to make. I was willing to compromise on eye box and field of view to get into something smaller and lighter.

If you don't mind the weight, the Razor is likely your answer. It may not be the absolute best choice, but it's rarely the wrong choice. It is an absolute joy to shoot with. There are two things that I don't like about it. The first is the weight, but it is what it is. The second is that it has a wire reticle. I prefer an etched reticle.

Oh, check out the Delta Stryke HD as well. Same scope as the Credo HX, but has an available mil reticle. I think the Razor is a better scope, but the Stryker is like $600 or so cheaper.

If you just want to dip your toe, find a used PST. Odds are that you'd be fine with it. Excellent 1x and good 6x. The only time I don't like mine is when I throw it on a 12.5 rig, adding almost 29 ounces and then throw on the light and suppressor and then have to carry it all around.

#1 is the issue of magwell fitment being tied to bottom metal/chassis not the action itself.
#2 issue is the rocking of the mag. Designs with the spring location reversed back to front may address this.
#3 slant-stack loading is better than vertical stack loading, if feeding otherwose equal.

Good info, Dude.

#1. Not a consideration for me.
#2. 100% agree and I've addressed excess movement.
#3. Although I don't agree that the angled stack is "better" than the vertical stack, I incorporated an angled stack into the new line of magazines.

How long is too long for a bolt gun barrel and suppressor?

I’m getting a 400yd barrel spun up. You heard it here first.
Do you still use a 100 yd zero in this case & if so, how does that work? Do you measure from the muzzle or from the erector? What kind of velocities are you seeing?

I've been thinking about going longer myself, just curious about your experience as you seem to be something of a pioneer in the field. 🍻

Based Pete Hegseth strikes again

I'm glad they got Nancy Pelosi and Gavin Newsome to comment for the article. There aren't 2 people on the planet who's deaths will please more good people than those two pieces of fucking scum.

Naming a ship after someone who held a city councilman position for a year isn't anything but pandering and activism. There are actual sailors who died doing the damn job and were posthumously given a MOH. Name ships after them, not some cocksucker from California who got a bad discharge because he couldn't follow the fucking rules..

Chinese national couple charged with smuggling crop-killing fungus into US: ‘Potential agroterrorism weapon’

A Chinese national couple was hit with criminal charges Tuesday for allegedly smuggling a dangerous fungus into the US capable of destroying crops and poisoning humans and livestock.

Zunyong Liu, 34, was caught by US Customs and Border Protection officers attempting to smuggle Fusarium graminearum — a biological pathogen considered “a potential agroterrorism weapon” — into the US via the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last July, according to a criminal complaint filed in a federal court in the Eastern District of Michigan.

Liu initially made false statements about his visit to the US and his knowledge of the pathogen before admitting to law enforcement that he was bringing the noxious fungus to his girlfriend, 33-year-old University of Michigan lab researcher Yunqing Jian, according to authorities.

GITMO. Whether one's method is flying airliners into buildings or infecting crops with blight, terrorism is terrorism. No "light, medium, heavy" designations. If your actions have the potential to cause great harm, then you are going to be held fully accountable for them.

Ok, looks like a great movie, but the last line..."Chance would be so honored knowing such a senior officer brought him home."

Obviously written by someone who never enlisted. "Fig's last will and testament said, "Don't let a fucking zero even touch my coffin! I prefer it not it to get lost and throw a tantrum blaming others for it's ineptitude."

6.5 Creedmoor

Seeking load data with Staball 6.5 and 153.5 Bergers in Starline brass.
If you were to workup a ladder load in .5gn increments for 6.5CM what would your window be?
Start at 38.0gn and go up to ???

I just did this with a new barrel using:
H4350 and Berger 140s and got heavy bolt lift around 41.5

I will try to get speeds this time around as well.
