My placement I assumed was the issue. So I moved it right next to where my bipod is and given the limited space of the bench I was shooting off of it MAY have been a real estate issue. Nonetheless I tried to get it within the recommended distances. From there on out I never missed a shot for the remaining 25 test rounds.

Being very pleased with the results not just from the chrono but my test rounds I decided to try to induce the issues I had before by tilting rifle a bunch, and mounting it on rifle. Mimicking the distance I had it with the tripod. No missed shots for the next 10 shot string

I’m so torn between two I can’t pull the trigger on either, and I’m not rich enough to buy both.

With one you get what we want in the style we shoot in, and in the other you get one click and shoot solution.

They have their cons and pros. I just don’t know if it’s worth the lrf with all the negatives (unusable with dead battery, no mils or moa, possible to cover target with dot)

They def were stiff enough to not be bumped. And even if you did looking through the scope you would notice right away,

Also, I'm kind of surprised that you're getting the speeds you are with N568. I'm getting close to 200 fps slower with it on my 300 PRC with 220gr Bergers - and it's a bit slow for the 220s... I was getting 2915 fps with RL 26 and I'm 2815 with the VV powder.

I definitely really don't know what "the" speed powder is for the 300, and in this case the 7-300 PRCs are. I don't really play with any magnums because I don't have the room for them out here. On Vihtavouri's website, it shows that N570 gives a bit of a boost over N568 by about 30-80 FPS. I would imagine that would be the same with the 7-300, but that is just a guess.

Your 37XC would be three times the overkill for my area .

I also didn't know that 3K was fast for N568. When I looked on VV's website for load data, I tried to guess around the 215 Berger. They show a max of 81gr. I figured I'd be able to get up to that, but by 80gr I definitely had a serious ejector mark. I am guessing I'm running closer to the upper limits of pressure as it is with 79.0. Maybe Peterson brass for the 300 has less capacity than others. I know that is the case for their Creedmoor-based cartridges as I have their brass in 6CM too.

I'm happy with the results. I'm not used to shooting magnums, so I'm sure a seasoned shooter with a lot of recoil and blast experience would do better than me. I kind of turned into a weenie over the past few years shooting mostly .308 and below.

A lot of whatever you could call success was luck for sure.
