Another city crawling with invaders and murderers

262 of the bad, it seems... only one of the worst? I assume if they had more than one murderer they would have put him out front too.

Just one murderer from Colombia, and at least 160 Home Depot day laborers, according to the article:

Of the 422 arrests, 262 have criminal convictions...

"They are doing the database research to get the worst of the worst, the ones who have the most significant threat to public safety," Bradford said.

It appears that they are mostly arresting college kids who write Letters-to-the-Editor and landscapers.

...and now this is all being offset by importing squatters from Africa, of all places.

When do we send back all the Viveks on H1Bs and finally get serious about having a quality tech sector? Probably he'll let more of those in too.
More "reeeeeeee" from the resident clown. 🤣🤣

Another city crawling with invaders and murderers

Heeeerrrrre we gooooooo!!!!

Houston is THE liberal shithole of Texas though (right with Austin)

ZERO local prosecution to the point where their Sheriffs office is shipping jail inmates out of state because they can’t house them or staff the jail they do have. Feds said nope!

Democrat DA’s do jack shit there.

The county to the north put a billboard up warning Houston criminals that crime gets punished there.🤷🏼‍♂️

22GT load data

80gr eldm and N150 was stupid accurate in my rifle. N150 just fouled so heavily so fast, I went to H4350. 33.7gr jumping 45k was stupid accurate, running 3150fps from a 22in 7.5tw.
That seems... odd. I've used a *lot* of N150 in both 223 and 308, and it was always far cleaner than say, Varget. To the point I pretty much swore off the stuff. I realize this is a somewhat different application, and I don't doubt your observations... but again, it runs completely contrary to everything I've seen from that powder 🤔

A couple of day ago I was inclined to remind you of the value of the Vudoo videos. Didn't want to overload you with suggestions but as I read what you wrote above I think you got there on your own. I think more than the technical exchange it also has benefits in marketing and community building.
Yessir, you did; you've always been good that way, and I miss doing those videos.

Ok, I've started the process of mass emailing to make sure I have what's needed to categorize who has what generation of action and to complete what's needed to streamline the ordering process. I've been sending 10 emails at a time today and the first 50 have gone out. I'll continue with this through the remainder of the weekend and into Monday, so if you haven't received the email yet, you'll see it by the end of Monday.

If one isn't sure what generation one has, there's a post in this thread, page 229, post # 11,418 or click this link:
https://www.facebook.com/share/g/15PcSv9yC7/ to join the DDG Private Group on FB by clicking JOIN and I will approve you. Once you're approved, go to FEATURED and you'll see the information on how to determine which Gen you have.

Thanks,

Burris XRT III pricing

Thanks guys. I have 2 Gen II Viper PST 5-25x. I have been reading about how the image is "milky" and what do you know I took both rifles to the range and sure enough I noticed it. Both are barely used, each has less than 500 rounds on it. Never abused, torqued down to the proper specs etc. One is on a 223 and the other 22. What a disappointment! I'd like to replace these eventually, but not sure I want to do it right now. Will keep the Cronus in mind. Any particular generation to look for or avoid?

Back to my original question....the 3-15x or 3-18x would be for my AR to plink at distance. Anything with more magnification is going to be way more than I need and will weigh the rifle down more than I would want.
I'm not super impressed with my 3.3-18 XTR 3, but it is probably still the best option for the money.

From 12-18x the eyebox doesn't get tight, but it becomes very sensitive to eye position and the image quality and CA gets extremely bad of mildly off axis.

The reticle, size, weight, turret layout, of the XTR3 still makes it a good option IMO. I'm on the fence about whether the glass in my PST Gen2 3-15 is better above 12x, but the overall package of the XTR3 is definitely a better one.

Maybe the Ares ETR 3-18 would be a solid alternative, but I've personally not used one.

Took my 79 year old dad out today. He is going through treatment for prostate cancer and I wanted to make sure he got some trigger time.

My dad is the man. Not only is he the most humble ans generous man I’ve ever met, he’s a badass. He was my scoutmaster growing up and helped me get my Eagle Scout. He is a Silver Beaver in scouting and taught me so much. Taught me how to shoot. How to hunt. How to work. How to be a man. He taught me to give my word and keep it. Thanks dad. Nice shooting as always.

He was part of the army marksmanship unit and is an absolute animal when it comes to iron sights. When he gets out his 1942 Springfield M1 Garand we are all in trouble.

We had a 20mph wind and it was rainy today but given the chemo schedule it was today or not at all. Well the clouds opened up for us to shoot for an hour or two. Then it poured again. 510 yards. Couldn’t miss the 12x16 plate. The smile on his face after connecting on his first shot and hearing the “ding” was priceless. I am thankful for quality equipment that made it so easy to make him smile.

Look, as someone with a few form 1's; yes, you can get a job shop to make some parts or build it yourself for relatively "cheap". A job shop can do it because they already have sunk costs and idle machine time to lease out, and YOU can do it at home because you aren't really accounting for all the costs.

But as someone who owns a production shop, $200 doesn't cover an hour of cnc time/wear, yet alone tooling/cutter wear, fixture life, setup, QC, calibration, shop costs, materials and wages. Setting up a shop to produce a specific product/line isn't cheap. And doing it to produce sub $500 products isn't cost effective (why do you think so many companies outsource production on a time/run basis?) Yes, if suppressors weren't regulated you could get them made cheaper at a wholesale manufacturer. But they would be built in 1k prepaid lots, not made to order on spec. I doubt you'd see a huge reduction in retail price at like quality levels to current products.
Bruh, dude made one in his garage. He knows what he’s talking about. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sooty case neck

Probably been asked already but I couldn't find anything.
I reload for 308 using imr4064, 4895 and Varget... 155's, 168's and 175's.
With various load combinations the case necks are sooty after firing and other loads aren't (same brass).
Is this simply a function of pressure where some are sealing better upon firing and are not sooty?
Carbon Soot on the neck does not necessarily mean you have a problem. There is good soot (sine pattern) and bad soot (black smudge line further down the neck all the way around and even as far down as the shoulder or a clear horizontal carbon soot line just below case mouth)

Wavy marks (many experienced comp reloaders refer to this as a carbon sine wave pattern) are normal and show that you have good clearance between the case neck and chamber. The sine wave shows that some of the gases escape into the chamber before the neck actually expands completely, sealing the chamber. This proves that you are getting a good bullet release.

Too little clearance between the case neck and chamber will cause the soot carbon ring around the case mouth close to the end of the neck like figure 1 in picture below. Too much clearance between the case neck and chamber will show the black smudge line further down the neck all the way around and even as far down as the shoulder.

Tony Boyer describes this in his book, ”The Book of Rifle Accuracy,” on page 149:

Here’s an example of a sine wave pattern of carbon soot, indicating good clearance between the case neck and chamber:

I bought parts that were done by someone with a building, equipped, and maintains a business. All the internal cones, end caps. Then used a lathe and finished them myself. If places can machine all the parts and sell them for 100-200. Why does a dedicated shop need 800 more? Oh ya.... because they need an FFL and its an NFA item. You are arguing just to argue.... no valid point or contribution. lol.

Silencer Central, if true Phuck them!

This thread is not about who thinks/feels/understands more about suppressor revenues/production/tolerances etc.

It is simply, is Silencer Central, looking to funnel funds to DC reps to keep funding their business model?

For those that are still not in the know, research Silencer Central. They are pro $ only. Not pro 2nd A nor anything that represents 99% of the consumers that buy suppressors. The background is pharmacy and lawsuits. Everything that Silencer Central banks on is keeping suppressors under NFA. If you have even a farts whiff of understanding in the industry, you know the background stemming from Dakota Silencer.

For everyone here that wants the absolute gold standard (suppressors off NFA) end result for all tax paying United States citizens, those part of the constitutional republic, & true 2nd Amendment patrons, I suggest the following persons be contacted in D.C. - Call the offices of John Thune, Mike Rounds, Dusty Johnson, Larry Rhoden, & Kristi Noem. Request you want to know exactly what is going on. They represent the actual Silencer Central location, so......

Where did the "conservation" video go? Desk Pop guy seems like a has been that never was. Cool Whip and tops everything.

Confusing Silencer Shop with Silencer Central is mortal sin.

Now, all we need is to have the "final rule" for what conservation means. The tuber states it's for a type of conservation vs what thousands of citizens take it as, per the information presented, so where is that other information?
