Why do people load so hot?

Lake City 7.62 brass is thick. I'm up to the case neck with 43.0gr IMR-4064. Learned that the hard way after popping a couple primers right off the bat during load development.

Lake City LR brass is just not good. I don't remember the H2O capacity, but my ES across 20 cases was over 1.5gr. No wonder my ES was in the 30s and SD in the teens regardless of how carefully I was loading. 15 years ago the lore around here spoke of the superiority of LC LR brass... but now you'll see recommendations for other stuff done by competitive .308 shooters... and for a reason.
I was told once that lc 5.56 brass was as good as lapua with the caveat that you needed to sort it to find a group with similar capacity and centered flash holes.

I heard that Arkan and Savage are just as good as anything also. If someone says it. Someone is gonna beleive it.

What scope to use for 100 yard groupings?

Highest magnification my scope has, as long as the mirage isn't too bad, then about 80%. In rifles I've swapped scopes on, I've seen no appreciable difference between 20 - 36 power when shooting groups at 100. It just takes a little more concentration on centering the reticle at 20 than it does 36.

If I were shooting competitive benchrest, I'd have a different answer.

Newsom plans to steal the House

And this has what to do with gerrymandering congressional districts? A term literally named for the DEMOCRAT who created the process.

A Republican can win a state wide or national election because the majority of people support them. Winning a seat in congress is a different story.
And, Elbridge Gerry was a Jeffersonian Republican…

Probably because people like us, who will spend over $500 on just the scale, only make up 5% or less of reloaders. To us, it seems as though everyone is after such a device because we all live in the echo chamber of the hide, but in reality, we are a small subset of high functioning autistic precision minded reloaders.
You’re right. 😂
I taught a class to some senior section guys, and my buddy said “You weaponized autism”

Bottom Metal for Coup de Grace Build

I had issues trying to get aics mags to run in both my CDG actions. They're very early, as I got in the first day of pre-orders some years back. If you have the action in hand, just confirm the aics goes up properly into the actions lower mag well.
Pardon my lack of experience. I would need the stock and the bottom metal to verify that fitment, wouldn’t I?

I just picked up my CDG action and have re-watched some of Ted’s videos so at least I know now what that little tab taped to the packing list is for. (Support for front edge of an AICS magazine)

Getting everything together will take some time because I just ordered a Manners Elite Hunter stock last week. That’s a new model - essentially a Pro Hunter with an adjustable comb. 6 months maybe…

Recommend a suppressor for 6.5 CM and 338LM.

I have an OCL Hydrogen L 6.5 for my CM and am using an AB Raptor 10 .338 with the reflex chamber in a 300 PRC until I break down and get a 338.

The Hydrogen on the 6.5 is stupidly quiet. I am shocked by it. The Raptor on the 300 is amazing. I am a huge fan of their cans right now.

I’ve wanted a TBAC for years but can’t ever find one in stock when I have the money for it and at twice the price of others, it’s harder and harder to commit to one.

Why do people load so hot?

I get 1-1.5 less in LC I've weighed.

Ingenuity Powder System

Honestly, I don't understand why, after all these years, RCBS, Redding or Hornady haven't made a simple dispenser system that can use the scientific scales.

That really is all these systems are with their own proprietary app/software. They are hi-speed powder measurers with automatic tricklers.
Yes, I know, it takes effort and design. Which is why I'm surprised they haven't done it

I'm just an old knuckle dragger myself, so wtf do I know 🤙

DeLane Development Group Rimfire Ventures

I just sold my Rim-X in anticipation of a new Mike Bush no-compromise creation which takes correct advantage of a fast-twist barrel.

It will need to go some to keep up with my 1st-gen V22 with 22" MTU / 1:16 Bartlein machined and installed at Old Vudoo (replaced original 20" Ace kukri)! Here are consecutive 102-yard groups (4, 6, 10 rounds respectively) with Lapua Long Range. Wind puffed a little on last one and I didn't try to adjust for it.

Also worth noting that these are 3 of 15 groups fired while "tuning the EC tuner" with this lot of LLR. I ended up moving it three "notches." Interestingly, the 3-notch move had definitive negative impact on grouping of previous-tuned Center-X (opened about .1 mils). So I moved back to the C-X setting; groups tightened right back up. The LLR adjustment made almost a tenth mil difference across six groups.

And no, I absolutely will not say I get this kind of accuracy AllTheTime, but it's not that unusual. That middle one... never done it before, but I bet Milke's new creation will do it again. And again.

(Grid is .36" (.1 mil @100))

Wow, very nice, and that middle one!!

I appreciate, immensely, being surrounded by so many that have placed their confidence in me. It blows my mind, daily, and I'm humbled by it. It's mindboggling, and amazing at the same time.

For the first time in a really long time, I'm enjoying the design/development game again. I don't know if it's because the only co-worker I have is a one-eyed cat that sits on my workbench behind me, but what I do know is, this community has taught me something....again. Maybe I'll post a pic of the one-eyed cat in the tractor thread.

So, I continue to be very protective of the people in this community, whether I know them, or not. Sometimes, my "against-the-grain" protective tendencies get me in trouble because I say truthful things out loud that creates discomfort, especially as it relates to the real reasons that have led to platform disfunction, largely associated with bad/inaccurate information.

There are also a few others, that I'm honored to consider my colleagues, that serve this community the same way, and I'm excited about their mutual approach because it serves the community first and puts others on notice that what happened in April isn't acceptable.

The above has led to an imperative to get back to basics as it relates to advancing this game and I'm sure I'll continue to say things that creates discomfort for some, but my focus is this community; the ones that place trust in those that should be delivering their very best, whether it's accurate information or tangible product.

So, for the first time ever, I'm sharing more than I ever have on a technical level, openly asking questions that serves what it means to move back to basics from the perspective of those that shoot and share their experiences, good and bad, create data from the feedback, and execute accordingly. And as a result, the unrest that started in April (likely before that) has been replaced with what it means for the community to look forward and be excited about what's next, and not just from me, but from my colleagues as well.

April 15, 2025, was an interesting day. At the time, I didn't realize how significant it was, but my immediate concern was no different than it was during the few years I was "tactically" absent. Just because I was absent didn't mean I wasn't watching, but what I was struck by the most, was the outreach I received from this community to step back in. And believe me, I take the confidence placed in me very seriously.

Thank you,

MB

A Republican can win a state wide or national election because the majority of people support them. Winning a seat in congress is a different story.
CT had a R majority in Congress as late as 2006.
NH was solid red from 1996 to 2006 and in 2010.
ME was pretty solid red until the 80s.
MA has been reliably D since the 20s, but was pretty solid R prior to that.
VT was reliably R until 1992.

My point is that your statement “Most New England states haven't elected a republican to congress since the Civil War” is factually false.

That said, the attributes that we associate with those parties have shifted over time. In the 1800s, the Rs were the party of a strong federal govt and the Ds were the party of “states rights.” Today, that has almost flipped, where now the Ds are basically Soviet Communists and the Rs are kind of a slower and less effective version of the same.

What did Reagan say? “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. They left me.” (Paraphrased) Elon Musk said something very similar recently. And, I’d wager that everyone has had similar sentiments about their favorite color.

Ain’t nothing gonna change till theirs wide spread out of court settlements for stuff like this
For the majority of the badge gang that'll just reinforce the us against them mentality. Most of them already put their finger prints on Grandma's car when they pull her over. Never know when Grandma might shoot you because she had a license plate light not functioning.
