The new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50, initials, and ongoing thoughts.

I'd still like more mag that the Ares btr g3 offers in the 4.5-27 but the glass really is good in that Helos 4-20. I could spot well out to 1k.
It's a bigger scope but I bet the ETR G2 4.5-30 would be a good one and on the other side is the Helos G2 6-24 and the IQ is decent in my 6-24. I have a Vector Optics Continental 5-30x56 to compare and the IQ is superior in the HG2 6-24 plus most everything else except for weight.

The HG2 4-20 is decent too and I have it on a rifle that I don't want a heavy scope on. This HG2 replaced a SWFA 3-15 and I like the HG2 much more!

This is where I've defaulted, the HG2 line as far as bang for the buck.
I've tried various other scopes of other companies the last few years that are similarly priced, some even more expensive, and only the Meopta Optika 6 has better IQ, yet still doesn't have turrets as nice as the HG2's.

But that Ares BTR G3 2.5-15 has pretty much changed my mind about scopes lately. It's just too good and a lot can be done on 15x. I don't have a many rifles and some of them I don't shoot often enough to justify better scopes on so I'm at a stand still right now.

Basically I'll stay with the HG2's for the immediate future as "good enough".

Need UPS for FX120i

I often use a 100 gram check weight before starting my powder charging session, just to be sure calibration is where it should be that I'm getting the same measurement from one session to the next. But that doesn't seem to have any relation to the issue of drifting during a session. . . ???
Putting a 100-gram weight on the scale and seeing "100" is not calibrating it. See pages 30-31 of the manual for the external-weight calibration procedure.

I'm not saying calibration should/would have any effect on drifting - it probably shouldn't - but to me it's a reasonable step to take.

Snow beaners are truly idiots…

Canada is populated with the defendants of those that rejected the American Revolution. They voted with their feet to stay subjects. It’s genetic…
The crown also compensated them for their economic losses after loosing the Revolution.

Tories raided until wiped out or ran to Canada in the South during the Revolution. Canada gave aid and comfort to the British in the Revolution, again in 1812. During the American Civil War, laundered the South's money and gave aid and comfort to the Southern Government in Canada. Snow Birds come and enjoy our freedoms, with attitude, read they are selling off their vacation homes in the states, good.

Trump is back…the “Now What” thread

This guy is saying the quiet part out loud.

"Yes, we can build new factories, but that will take years.

It also comes with a lot of risk.

Less than four years from now, a new administration could come in and totally reverse current trade policy.

If Chinese goods started pouring back into our country at that point, what would happen to those that invested giant mountains of money into new U.S. factories?

I don’t think that we will see a huge wave of factory construction, because the risk of being wiped out when a new administration comes in is just too great."

He isn't wrong. Why invest in factories (in a recession to boot) when the next administration or the one after that reverses the trade policies OR Trump decides to do the same due to economic stresses before a company can get their ROI back?
So I suppose we just sit here and take it? No

Let's get this strait, bad policies in the past mostly by Democrats got us in this shitty position and the plan is to wait around till they come back in power to reinforce stupidity?

You're kidding right?

Rimfire Rifle Photos Thread

Been wanting to get into a full size 22 for a long time. Really don’t like the big dbm mags but if you want to play there will be concessions.
Came across this as new B&C stock with Greyboe bottom metal on eBay of all places for what amounted to 1/2 retail price. I jumped on it.
A&J supplied the B14R heavy barreled action.

First time out this morning shows promise.
Some 30yr old Tenex and some modern SK rifle match both went into about 3/8” at 50yds. A little too much wind for any 100yd evaluation.

This thing is gonna be fun….
