SOLD WTS - Shadow Tech Pig Tripod with SunwayFoto XB-52 Ball Head

Looking to sell one of my tripod setups. The shadow Tech is very sturdy and easy to set up. In some ways. I prefer it over my Radian because it only has two leg sections and I find the latches on the Pig Tripod to be a bit faster. This tripod by itself weighs 5.6 lbs while the Vortex Radian comes in at 5.0 lbs, so only about a half pound difference.

The XB-52 ball head is low profile and has a 132 lb max load making them very stable and easy to shoot from. This combination will support pretty much any rifle and has allowed me to make hits on 2/3 IPSC plates at 800 yards while standing. I am also throwing in a padded tripod case, see pics.

The ball head alone on Amazon is $240, I'm asking $280 for everything.

PP F&F preferred, PM with any questions or for more pictures.

Is it possible to re-thread a 5/8-24 carbon barrel?

I have a few Carbon barrel rifles that were...(custom threaded) for the Thunderbeast Brakes for the thread over brake style TBAC suppressors. By this I mean the threads were "timed" so to speak so when I threaded the brake on they were perfectly timed without the use of the crush washers to align the brake. Interestingly, by doing this for whatever reason it has made other 5/8-24 adapters useless. They will thread on about 3 turns and then a hard stop.

So, can you "erase" the current threads on the barrel and rethread to a "standard" 5/8-24? Obviously, can't cut the carbon barrel down.

22 cal Slug/lead bullet BC's

I love the idea of the slugs catching up to rimfires, but as you said, we need some actual air rifles that can be consistent. Air rifles might have consistent ammo unlike rimfires, but rimfires have consistent rifles.

Take for example that Skout… I have never seen an air rifle have so many problems just to fill the dang gun and stay filled! Accurate but a pain to deal with. Seems like FX has a few rifles that have excelled in slugs, but their reg issues and wondering POI issues keep them from being consistent enough to actually compete with rimfires too.

It is nice to pull the CZ out with its favorite ammo and know I will have zero issues.
Man what you stated is right on the mark! It's pretty insane no one has built a super stout pcp repeater yet. The potential is already present for pcp's to out do 22rf using current slug designs and as a bonus super low SD too.

I've already mentioned it here on SH but those 25 cal Altaros 60gr are noticeably superior in the wind at longer distances than 22rf standard velocity because of the .245 G1 BC they have. In windier conditions I can stay on the steel with these more whereas not so much with 22rf.
Firearms wise at long range a loose comparison could be like a 223 using 77's/22rf vs a 6mm Dasher using 105's/60gr Altaros slugs.

Overcooked Brass (Annealing question)

No. I was looking for an orange flame but didnt see it. I adjusted my setup for a very slight glow in the neck for 1 second then it drops out.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will turn up the flame next time so the cycle time is quicker.
I used to do the orange flame. I found that wasn't really a good indicator. It's the color of the neck glowing that's the better measure.

MPA Rifle rings or one peice scope mount?

That sort of makes sense to me. For myself if I had my scope mounted higher I would also raise my cheekpiece the sane amount and my head position wouldn't change much which is why I find the idea a bit confusing.
The cheek rest goes very low in the new positions. More like a chin/jaw line rest.
