6.5 PRC in a shortie?

HA! I have two people that want one now, barrels being spun up by PVA.....Him being an ex National Champion shooter might give him a clue though. I'm sure if a 500 yd shot presented itself on something that he wanted dead he would want to be able to take it. The rifle is too be for inexperienced clients and will be given to shoot at under 200 yds. As I stated before it will be suppressed blind gun. And why do people want to tell other people what they want? He didn't come asking me what he wanted, he told me what he wanted and I'm sure he didn't just pull it out of his ass.
I don't guess only Powdahound has any first hand experience, here has first hand knowledge, what I asked for anyway.
Look, build the man his rifle. It doesn't matter at all to me. I asked two questions, and your response pissed me off. It's that simple. Does that make me immature? Perhaps, but I don't care... Then your further responses were fairly illogical. Just a pet peeve of mine, like fingernails on a chalkboard. I do have experience with what you're proposing. That's why I have an opinion. Will it shoot and kill stuff? Sure. At 200 yards, it's just like buying a diesel Ford F450 as your daily commuter... Different strokes... Good luck, I'm sure it will be a hammer.

Am I lookin at this correctly?

The brass spring back / pull back is something I hadn’t considered. Good thought!
So not being one to give up and just throw money at it I tried this…..
Took 5 fired cases and annealed the head then a punch with rounded tip to ballon it out a bit.

All five were then run thru the chamber and I got a measurement of .047 on all five.

Is this as good as the “proper” tool……I don’t know.
It will however satiate a curiosity. I have a shim kit for the bolt inbound so we’ll see if that and sorting the ammo by rim thickness shows on the target.
A lot of times people are willing to help on this site.
None of us can help those who refuse to help themselves.

Suppressors Thunder beast RR brake module mishap

Hi,

This happens if the locking ring is not kept tight. The two causes of that happening are it simply not being tightened correctly, or carbon getting on the tapered mating surfaces preventing it from actually being tightened metal on metal (when the carbon disintegrates slack is created).

He should submit an RMA and we'll replace it, along with additional instructions on how best to tighten the RR locking ring.

The system was designed with a huge safety margin provided that the ring is tight.

Athlon Helos BTR Gen2 2-12?

I'll go peer through both of mine and post my thoughts.
Sorry for the delay.

It's a cloudy evening, the sun is behind the mountain, and it's barely past the red sunset colors, so I'm checking the scopes right now. With the illume on both are usable at 4x but of course it's easier to see the DMR reticle. I could make any reasonable long range shot on a deer with either scope.

Without the illumination on if I were shooting a blackbear , nope I couldn't see the 4-20's reticle well enough but probably could shoot a deer. I can still see the DMR reticle on my black plate though whereas the 4-20 mil reticle is getting tough to see. Such a huge difference in reticle thickness.

As far as brightness the 4-20 is a hair better in low light on 4x but if I don't have the illumination on, thus not seeing the reticle well, it's for not.

Don't get me wrong I like my HG2 4-20 but it wouldn't be my first pick for low light.

The DMR reticle has to be down to 2x for the reticles to be close to the same size, well it's still easier to see the DMR reticle on 2x if comparing.

I'd spend the extra money and go for the Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50 if I was to decide between that and the 4-20. One wouldn't think .1 mil thicker would make a difference but it does and the illuminated cross in the BTR G3 seems faster to put on target more intuitively. I keep on saying it but this BTR is a killer scope and the IQ is nicer.

The DMR is the way to go for hunting IMHO. Gotta see the reticle at 4x without illum on this can't be beat and with illume on its even better.

The lesson here for me is one has to make out the reticle and Illumination on made the biggest difference by far.

Really too bad we don't have a higher end scope like the DMR!!!
