ELR match at Ben Franklin Range in western Pa April 19th

There were 17 spots on Wed and it was no longer on the calendar Thursday. I saw the other match, but honestly, $1200 to shoot 4 stages and taking 2 days to get all that in, does not sound appealing. Especially with the payout structure being so low given the cost being so high.
oh ok, yep so maybe it's cancelled. They mentioned having another in July, but who knows.

The $1200 is if your a team of 1. A team of 4 would be $300 per I believe.

Craddock Precision Bartlein SR25?

I have no opinion on current Bartlein products, but can 100% recommend Paul's work at Craddock Precision! Back a few years ago before Larue offered 6.5 cm barrels for their PredatOBRs, Paul spun up a complete barrel, extension and with a Superlative adjustable gas block for me. Answered all my questions, even the dumb ones...:unsure::unsure:
Do you know what kind of barrel blank it was? What is your thoughts on the adjustable gas block? Is it needed or do you essentially leave it wide open?

Horse Power, Track Shit, Torque, Cubic Inches, Liters, Run What Ya Brung, Auto or Cycle

What I was thinking of doing is measuring up from the block deck today, to a taught fishing line pulled across the engine compartment. Then start adding spec measurements for the manifold and carb off their websites to get close, but that would only get me close...not 1/4" close though.
Your trick with the foil is probably the way to go once the engine is in.
This is the air cleaner that I use. The top is a bit bowed up but I use a jam nut on the stem. I set it high enough that when I tighten down the top it won't interfere with the carb choke plate.

The drop base gets me that little bit of clearance that's needed. It's notched to fit over a Holley double pumper style carb.

Craddock Precision Bartlein SR25?

I got my hands on one of the Troy Industries upper receivers they created for the M110 replacement solicitation. It fits my SR25 lower perfectly. I also randomly have a SR25 URX4 15" rail sitting around. I have been pondering ordering a 16" Bartlein 6.5 Creedmoor barrel from Craddock Precision. I have a Bartlein on a 6.5 bolt gun that shoots lights out. I have no experience with Craddock Precision.

I am looking for the Hide's thoughts on Craddock Precision and if we think the juice is worth the squeeze on Bartlein gas gun barrels.

Gas Block Problem

Yup, I believe it is about 18 click outuntil the gas block is in the "normal" gas position.

Definitely made sure I had the block set correctly.
A hex wrench isn’t exactly a precision measuring instrument. And as they are measured from flat to flat, the size of the wrench isn’t giving a true numerical value for the port diameter.
I realize that it’s not the most precise measurement, but I think it clearly shows that it is smaller than .0625. Whether that matters or not, I don’t know. LaRue finally emailed me back and said that’s in spec. All the reading I’ve done says that less than .0625 is too small, so who knows. 🤷‍♂️

I asked LaRue what the exact correct size is and told them I’ll go to McMaster and get pin gauges to check. That was yesterday and no response yet.
