^ that’s kind of what I was worried about, but I think given the totality of the responses here, I’m going to start at 28 and then buzz off a couple of inches if I find it to be unmanageable. Either that or just go back to muzzle brake.

Personally, I don't want anything over 30 if it's performance rifle. I think my 300 Norma Imp is 28" +2 for a brake is 30.
Rifles I want to be even remotely maneuverable I want it at or around 24 tops.
My 22 Creed, and 6.5 PRC hunting rifles are both 18" with a 9" can, which comes in right around 26.5 and Ideally I'd prefer a couple less, either with a 7" hunting suppressor, or a 16" barrel.

I have a 7 Rem Mag that's purely a bench gun, pretty sure it's 26" with a 9" can and it's just too much for me.

One of my son's friends offered him a smokin' price on some "factory seconds" (threading on the bell was wrong thread pitch for their sunshade)
He bought 20 of em ($8000?) and was selling off what he didn't need.

I use Liquid IV electrolyte packs and MtnOps caffeine packs in bottled water pretty often - mostly just water. I do occasionally drink an energy drink as a guilty pleasure before matches - I haven’t had a soda since 1996, and I’ve only had one cup of coffee in my life in 1994 - but a little “wake up” and a lot of sugar gives me a common cognitive sensory association trigger I can use while shooting. But by and large, just water, drinking electrolyte mix about every 3rd bottle on hot days.

I do try to drink a full bottle of water per stage during PRS matches.

As long as your not carrying it around then any the extra length won't be an issue until the length gets absurd. I have no issues with a 27" barrel plus TBAC 338 SR can with a bench/prone gun.

I have 3 Leofoto tripods: LN-364c, Ranger LS-365c, and SO-362cx. I use the compact LS-365c for hunting, and my son carries it for PRS matches because it can slip into my pack easily if he gets tired of hauling it - but it’s largely too small and I don’t like ball heads as much as leveling bases. I used the LN-365c for PRS matches for 7 years, and really, really like that tripod. But I got an SO-362cx last season and love the lighter weight and single pull design.

If I were to only have one, it would be the SO.

The downside, I will admit, is that all 3 of mine are by and large too tall for low kneeling tac-table type rear support. I haven’t shot from a tripod at a PRS match in several years - pre-covid if memory serves - but using a tac-table rear support would be very nice. A shorter multi-pull model with a solid platform would be nice to have in my pack.
